Bergara B14 HMR

Waiting, not so patiently, for a call from my fine, friendly, local (FFL) receiving it in shipment for me.

Not my image, mine will initially be sporting a Vortex Venom 6 - 24 X 50, as that's what id currently sitting idle in the safe. I expect to eventually move up to comparable range NF, after break-in and initial load development.

Picked up a Springfield RO Thursday, sadly on Tuesday it went to Springfield because out of 500 rounds tested, 30% of factory cases wouldn't chamber. think the match chamber might be a little too "match" looking like it's undersized a hair.

Not my intention to buy in 2022. To the contrary, I started the year off by selling one and have plans to part with several more. But I did have one sneak up on me.

I'm not much of an AR guy. I decided to add a new upper in 6.5 Grendel to see if it would up my interest. Found a nice 20-inch upper on sale from PSA. I bought it intending to swap it for a 5.56 upper installed on an already-owned lower.

About the time it arrived, I received a "Shot Show Special" mailing from PSA that included a complete lower with Magpul MOE furniture at a good price. It should arrive sometime next week. I guess when I mate the lower to the upper I'll have purchased my "first gun of 2022." My plan is that it will be the only gun purchase of 2022. But you know what they say about "the best laid plans ..." :)

First gun of 2022 was a black LE trade-in VP9 to go with my factory Midnight Bronze VP9. Wasn't really looking for another, but at $400 it was an "I can't afford not to!" moment. I was already looking to pick up another inexpensive 9mm as a beater for carrying in a backpack, dirt-bike tankbag, etc.

300 Win Mag, mag fed. Why? Because I always wanted a mag fed 300 Winnie!
My shoulder hurts just thinking about that. Had one once, a real tack driver, but about 4 rounds was all I could do before my shoulder fell off :D.

Going for a Ruger Precision Rife in 308.
That should be an awesome gun. I was in a Palmetto State store the other day, ended up leaving with a RIA1911 in .38 Super. While I was there, I played with a RPR in 6.5 CM and a Savage Axis. The RPR is a much nicer rifle and had a wonderful trigger. The Axis didn't have a LOP adjustment on the stock where the RPR does. If I were looking for another long gun, the RPR is what I'll get. Probably go with the Creedmoor, though. I really like that the rail has a 20 MOA elevation built into it.

What kind of glass will you put on it? I've got a Vortex Viper HST 6-24x50, with the VMR-1 reticle (MOA) on a Grendel, really nice scope for long range.

I have been researching the micro 9s for a new ccw and had narrowed it down to a few....kimber micro 9 series, Sig 365, ruger max9, and Springfield Hellcat.
I had been leaning towards the hellcat, and a landlord stopped by my shop with his new toys....a brand new corvette :what:...and brand new Hellcat.
He let me shoot the Hellcat and it was a must-have. The stars aligned again when I drove the five miles to my lgs and there were three Hellcats in the case and stacks of 12, 13, and 15rd mags on the pegboard. I chose a Hellcat with manual safety a 12rd and a 15rd spare mag and signed the adoption papers. I will pick it up next week.

I didn't intend to buy any more firearms for a while but then I spotted this really nice M1842 martial pistol made by H. Aston with a lock and barrel date of 1848 in an auction and put in a maximum pre-bid way under what I expected it to go for--at least $200 to $300 lower than what I've seen others in this condition go for.
I already have one which is a shooter but not nearly as nice as this one. When I went back to check after the auction finished, damn if I didn't win it for exactly the maximum bid I had entered. There were 14 bids entered which meant that somebody stopped just $25 less than my max bid.

I've given up trying to figure out auctions. If I'm ambivalent toward winning as in this case, I always seem to win but if I really want an item I never win. I do try to avoid getting in bidding wars and in most cases just like this one, prefer to pre-bid for an amount that I'm willing to pay. (this includes adding in the scam-like bidder's premium percentage) If I get it, fine, if not then in my estimation, it sold for more than it was worth.

Here are a couple of the auction pictures. This one may be too nice to shoot.

great cartouches with minimal loss from any stock sanding

Cheers

Now you have to concealed carry it just once...

.22 WMR have a .357 and 9mm lcrs as well. Nice little guns.
Nice, yeah, I have a .38 642 which I like so won't replace that, but, I wouldn't mind one of the other LCR's, most likely .22. I want a quality double action .22 revolver. No I don't want to spend $750 for a Smith and Wesson all-steel one, even though they are very nice. I'm waiting until I see a good deal on a used LCR .22.

It's possible I could go through 2022 without buying a new gun (Bought three in 2021), we're moving and have a ton of expenses/work/projects to do......but it's ok, I have plenty, and this is our dream/retirement one day property/home. There are a couple of things on the want list, but it may have to wait, we'll see, looks like a promotion is due at work, that won't hurt.

I bought a Glock 43X yesterday, $468 with tax. It'll pair nicely with the Glock 48 I got last Sept. It'll be good to have shared mags & holsters.

I installed a Sheild Arms metal mag release on the 48 to use the 15 rnd mags I have. I think I'll use the Glock mags mostly for the 43X.

I have money left but I'm torn between ammo and a long gun.....
Life was easier when I was broke
