FN's 5.7x28 cartridge and "Five-Seven" handgun... anyone

Why should anyone have to prove what this gun isn't? It's no better than asking a black man to prove he isn't a criminal because that's who they show on the nightly news or that your dog isn't vicious because of its breed. If the BATF didn't consider it armor piercing, then why the fuss now? I'd rather ask the Brady Bunch, which ran tests showing the gun might penetrate body armor to open up their data and methodology for scrutiny first; just because they have video doesn't mean that something wasn't manipulated.

heres a google search into arf.com for the pix of the 5.7 ss192 vs ultama vest:

I watched the video of the vest test at the Brady Campaign site this week. The narrator described the vest as a Level IIA. I looked that up, and a IIA isn't even rated for .357 magnum. I also noticed that the vest failed to stop the shotgun slug; the narrator said it was a successful stop, but there was at LEAST six inches of backface deformation, probably more, so the Kevlar-wrapped slug could have penetrated the officer's heart and struck the spine (I think NIJ allows 1.73" of backface deformation, max, or the vest is considered to have failed).

The narrator appears quite confused because he says a IIA vest is rated to stop .44 magnum "like Dirty Harry carries", but that's IIIA (which should have stopped the shotgun slug if it really were IIIA).

Why let facts get in the way of good propaganda?

Because all firearms are mythical instruments for fictional stars or elite special-force police agents. This is a .44 magnum, just like Dirty Harry carries. I'm the only one in this room...
