You know, I am looking at it, and it doesn't have "military" on it, but it's a stainless knife. 4" blade, stainless handle, plain edge. Looking at pics of the "police" online, and it must be that, but it is un-marked. Just says "seki city, japan" on one side.

Gerber Multi-tool. I work in logistics in motor-pool, warehouse and armory.

Gotta cut open packages, adjust weapons sights, replace simple vehicle parts like hose clamps, etc etc. I haven't had to use a blade for fighting, but I have a Ka-Bar tanto tip 8" with a rubber grip just in case I get called on for a patrol or supply run that requires leaving the wire, I'd feel better having it JIC. It's probably bigger than what is practical for fighting, though.

I'd like to have a double edged knife like bighammer shows but without the shiny blade. I think that would be better then there's no problems with making sure the blade is facing the right way and makes it more versatile.

For utility a gerber folding tool.

for defense the Gerber Applegate/Fairbain. with the false edge sharpened and the safety clip, lock thing removed. It served me well.

3. Ka-Bar on the web gear. Gerber multi-tool on the belt. CRKT clip folder in my pocket.

Never used the Ka-bar on anything dangerous but I liked having a knife where I could get at easily in full battle rattle.
