Ford Won't Sell to PD's in Lawsuit

And it was low-powered FWD, based on a stretched K-car platform. No PD I know of would touch one with a 10 foot pole.

Seems to me the Dodge Magnum might make a decent police car, although I'd be willing to bet most officers would prefer the security of a real trunk as opposed to a wagon body.

Isn't Chrysler developing a police package for the 300? God knows they're selling enough of them without the PD's, but I think it would make an ideal cruiser, roomy, heavily built, powerful V8, RWD, large capacity trunk..and it seems they even finally made variable displacement work with the new Hemi, cutting down on department fuel costs.

I think a 300 with a black-and-white PD paint job would be pretty classy-looking, harkening back to the Plymouth Fury days when police cruisers had a stoic dignity about them.

If Chrysler would fire up a decent fleet-sales program, they could probably sell them to cab and limo companies as well. Perhaps they're saving that for after consumer sales slow down, they can barely keep the things on the lot as it is.

I don't know why they haven't just put a Magnum clip on a 300 sedan.

There is your RWD V8 cop car.

As for GM, they have been sh1tting the bed when it comes to passenger cars for years now. There isn't a class leading car, (Not SUV,) they make with four doors, unless you count Saabs and Subarus. GM is about 20 years behind the powercurve when it comes to cars.

Kudos to Ford and Barrett.

This just in from the New York International Auto Show:

Charger Could Become a Real Cruiser

Ford Motor Co. has long had a solid lock on the country's police cruiser business with its rear-drive Crown Victoria , but it will soon face a fast challenger. Chrysler Group plans to get its new Dodge Charger certified for full pursuit, then market the four-door muscle car to police departments across the country, said vice president Eric Ridenour. While Chrysler is not yet taking orders, he and other executives hinted there's already a waiting line for the SRT8 version of the new four-door Charger. The target for launch of a police edition is autumn 2005.

How many PDs are goingt o go for the alloy wheels? They should have shown it with steel wheels so we would know what it will actually look like.
