France’s answer to terrorism: The Law of Suspects

FWIW we are already having a tough time with many of the Somali refugees that are in Portland and Lewiston Maine not behaving as responsible guests/citizens and using precious resources the established citizens could use themselves. Lots of drug and gang representation as opposed to problems by "local" citizens. Our governor is opposing the new batch of refugees landing here in our state for many reasons, not just because one may "act up".:banghead: Do they not have the right to own firearms just like me now?

This is not the time to be allowing unchecked refugees access to our soil. If they can "prove" they are not a threat in any way to the USA then by all means allow them to go through the process to become a naturalized citizen. None of this "If you are already here you can become a citizen if I sign the law." stuff.:scrutiny:

End rant

Compassion for folks who would rather behead you, destroy centuries-old churches in the Middle East? Rape, torture and merciless killing of innocent civilians - even in their own area they control? They have ZERO compassion for anything outside of their extreme dogma. The muslims in Africa are torturing and raping and killing thousands.
I have yet to see any compassion.
Exactly, I can't believe some of the tripe I'm reading about ignoring what is an obvious threat to this country's sovereignty and future.
Our boarders have essentially been open for the duration of our so called war against terror just as those in Europe and we are about to pay the price for that.

All I would like to say is that I'm glad to see some people "get it," but I'm not surprised others don't in regards to what Islam really is.

For those who wish to somehow equate Islam to Christianity, all I can say (and here is where I get banned from The High Road) is one deity sent his son to die for your sake, the other wants you to send your son to die for him. There really is no comparison.

I am reading a lot of bigotry on this thread. Almost all religions and political groups etc.... have extremists factions and their fair share of past and in many cases present crimes against humanity perpetrated in the name of their cause.

There is nothing exceptional about Islam except that they are the present flavor of the times and unpopular.

Thank God the extremist factions of Islam (it is important to make that distinction) do not have the power, support, trust, and popularity that the crusaders, nazis, and other zealots of the past had or these atrocites would be much larger in number and legalized.

Picking on a bunch of poor men, women, and children fleeing Isis and the horrors they bring around them is not going to impress me and any polititian that does so I would consider a lying coward seeking votes by preying on the paranoid suspicions and fears of the ignorant.

I am not about to drink that koolaid infected with fear and ignorance offered to me by a coward.

I for one think we should get to know who these people (refugees) and that is not going to happen by building a big wall and turning our backs on them while they are murdered by our enemies. We are to do what we can to help them.

Let'a separate the facts from opinions. The facts are that a percentage of Muslims are radicalized. Not all, just a percentage. I'll let the pundits argue about what that percentage is. Those radicals have shown through their acts and words that they want to kill us, have done so and have no intention of stopping. We also know we have a refugee problem. A percentage of those refugees are good people in a terrible situation. Again, I don't know what that percentage is. We know that ISIS is telling us that they are inserting their members into the refugee population. Finally, we know that vetting these people is difficult if not impossible, as identifying records, etc. allowing us to know who they are to some degree non existent. Maybe not for all, but for a percentage of them. Those facts are indisputable.

Where the opinions come in is how we handle this situation. The balancing act is how we help those refugees that need help while not importing terrorists. While there are obviously differing opinions, I don't think it's unreasonable to not want terrorists brought into my neighborhood, where given the opportunity they will try to kill me and my family. If you may not agree with that sentiment, I hope you can at least understand it.
