Frankford arsenal X10 at MidSouth

$1000 on sale. Press only. Ouch!
I want to upgrade my progressive press, but I'd have to shoot a lot more than I do to amortize that. Still, I would consider it.....

That includes the case feeder. Not really a bad deal. Youll be at a grand give or take a little with either a Dillon or Hornady on a 5 station.

Ive been following this one closely though and will end up buying one next year. Ive seen them squash a few problems, and Im kinda waiting around to make sure the press with all the fixes is the one I buy.

Yeah a Redding Big Boss (single stage, I know) at wholesale price is under 200 bucks. Ours works great for what we do.

I have a Dillon 650XL with a bunch of heads /shell plates and have no need for the Frankford Arsenal X10... but man I really want one to play with! I think $1000 for a 10 station press with a case feeder is an excellent price.

I can do pretty much everything I need to do on the 6 station 650XL but there have been compromises, mainly a powder check station. I have a lot of military brass but I bought it with the primer pockets pre-swaged. So the swager isn't really a deal for me. One thing I don't like on the 650XL is swapping over from small primers to large and back. It would be kind of nice to have a large primer press and a small primer press. But the money would probably be best spent on a primer tube loader or a bullet feeder.

Scheels has had them in stock and shipping for a few months now. The problem seems to be the case plates aren't available. I was almost going to order one but they didn't have a 9mm shell plate in stock. I see Mid South says they have all the shell plates in stock. If someone really wanted one it would probably be best to order one before the shell plates are out of stock at Mid South.

I am looking forwards to some in the field long term usage reviews also! Most of what I have seen are "professional reviewers" that setup the press up, try it out with no long term usage to say what it is like to really own one... but that is pretty much any product these days.

$1000 gets you the press, case feeder and a head. Shell plates are $72. With free shipping that is a good deal in my book. I ran my 650XL without a case feeder for a couple of years and it wasn't bad at all... then I got a case feeder and can't imagine not having one.

If I was starting over I would strongly consider an X10... I am too committed to the Blue universe (Dillon) to change presses.

I thought about replacing my Dillon 650 with case feeder with FA X10 but it was "missing in action" to market for over a year and even thought about Dillon 750 with case feeder for $1200 - https://www.doublealpha.biz/us/dillon-xl-750-with-case-feeder-and-caliber-kit

But when Lee released 6 station Six Pack Pro to replace 5 station Load-Master, it was a no brainer for me to try "relatively insignificant" cost of $350 kit as I could always add $1000 FA X10 or $1200 750 later.

I would really like downsize to one press. This may be the way.
Consider that only having one press means a lot of caliber conversions and small/large primer change.

I have unlimited budget for shooting/reloading (Already spent over $180,000 past 30 years, mostly on ammunition/reloading components) and decided on Six Pack Pro and 2023 Pro 1000 due to fast/easy caliber change and even easier/faster small/large primer swap (No more pecking individual primer for rest of my retirement).

When you consider that your only other option for a 10-station press starts at $3500, the price is all relative.

If you were ready to move up from there the next step is a 12 station one...which is still pretty aggressively priced, including motor drive, case and bullet feeders, at $6000

I've been following it too...mostly with Randall Bragg on his Facebook page.

Beta testing seems to have addressed most of the bugs. Frankfort has been very responsive to their feedback

That was my thinking also. I've always found vaporware irritating. When Lee introduced the Six Pack it seemed like an obvious choice for a relatively small outlay

Six Pack Pro...due to fast/easy caliber change and even easier/faster small/large primer swap (No more pecking individual primer for rest of my retirement).
I've been very impressed by how closely the promises and actual delivery have been. I'm still amazed at how easy the primer swap has been...I swap back and forth between SPP and LPP .45ACP depending on the platform I'm using (saving my Federal LPP for tuned revolver)

Really? We're not allowed to talk about the fact that the FX10 is 100% made in China?
You're more than welcome to talk about where the press is manufactured...but you're not allowed to bring politics into the discussion.

It might be a fine line, but it exist and you agreed to abide by that rule when you joined

if I’m stepping up my Progressive, Dillions 750XL got my $$$$! Tried and True with Amazing customer service! Used it parts everywhere too!

As for budget Progressive, Lee 6 Pack says HELLO! From what I read. They worked out my their kinks.

It’s an interesting press at an aggressive price point. I went from a LNL to two RL1100s (small/large primer) and have been very satisfied. This whole discussion is similar to do I want to invest in the yellow, red, or blue batteries (and tools).

I'm currently running 2 Dillon SDB's, 2 xl650's and a couple Rock Chuckers.

I am trying to downsize everything in my life. I have too much stuff.

Yup, Randall has done a decent job with it. FA is consistently making improvements to squash little problems. The bent powder drop rod is kind of a big deal to move the powder drop to station 6. Don't care about the bullet feeder ad I have 2 3d printed and the feed dies for them. The rest is reliability stuff in my eyes

I'll buy one. I'm not afraid to tinker. I do own a high mileage LnL after all. 🤣

I don’t see the point in a 10 station press. Unless they make a “Washing” die. you still have to wash your fired cases after decap and sizing.

Some think that more is better

I still use my turret press more than my LnL progessive

Yet you keep pumping up the darn Lee . Get over it.
(this from an original Lee fan boy from years ago.)

The only press that needed an in depth second party manual.

Buy an X10 and review that.

I am trying to downsize everything in my life. I have too much stuff.
In recent years, I had to go through the exercise of downsizing twice to support my aging parents and almost sold everything to move in with them to care for them in another state. So I initially narrowed 15 presses down to Dillon 650 with case feeder, 550 and Lee ABLP/Pro 4000 then on the second downsizing (To save on utmost reloading space), I sold off the 650 and kept 550/ABLP (In hope to later expand my press choice once my parents were situated).

Buy an X10 and review that.
Actually I considered buying the FA X10 to replace Dillon 650 when my parents' medical situation improved and we didn't have to move (But 90%+ of my reloading/shooting gear had already been liquidated). So I anxiously waited for the release of X10 to read some hands-on reviews to see how it compared to Dillon 750 at very comparable pricing with case feeder but the X10 became vaporware for over a year (This post was from last year) - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/x10-press-…-thoughts.911101/#post-12426395

"I think FA X-10 was designed to compete with Dillon 650/750/1050 with case feeder and Hornady LNL Ammo Plant.
Currently Hornady Ammo Plant is selling at $1300 - https://gun.deals/search/apachesolr_search/090255951608
And Dillon 750 with case feeder and one caliber kit is selling for $1150 - https://www.doublealpha.biz/us/dillon-xl-750-with-case-feeder-and-caliber-kit
Of course, the main benefit of 10 station press is additional stations BUT Dillon 750 being the reference standard, FA X-10 has to match or deliver more than what 750 offers in terms of reliability of operation and customer service/warranty. With retail pricing of FA X-10 around $1000 with no dies, I am not sure if around $100 savings is going to be enough to convince potential Dillon customers to buy FA X-10.
The reported "delay" of more than a year is supposedly due to refining the press parts to ensure 100% reliability"

Yet you keep pumping up the darn Lee
While waiting for X10's release, Lee released Six Pack Pro and after updates of early production parts, it is now a very viable reliable progressive press option. As you are aware, I did a comprehensive review and testing to the point of failure (Which prompted Lee to quickly update early production parts to resolution) - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...-oal-consistency.911743/page-18#post-12564292

So with SPP running reliably and FA X10 still MIA to market, I contemplated whether I should consider Dillon 750 with case feeder. Since SPP uses the same ram/linkage from their .50 BMG press to load any rifle cartridges, even magnums, I decided to make SPP replacement for 650 and keep 550. (ABLP/Pro 4000 was gifted to my sister/BIL who moved to Texas and wanted to start reloading ... My BIL who never reloaded was instructed on reloading basics/safety practices and was producing 9mm/40S&W/45ACP rounds under 30 minutes).

But then Lee released 2023 Pro 1000 with breech lock head and new priming system with same "floating shellplate" design with auto-zero index as SPP and I did another comprehensive review and testing - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/new-2023-gen3-lee-pro-1000-unboxing.916672/

So with both SPP and 2023 Pro 1000 running reliably with new priming system (No more pecking individual primers), decision was made to let 550 with 2 full toolhead setup with powder measures go to a hunter who reloads several rifle calibers as caliber/primer swap on SPP and new Pro 1000 are fast and easy.

That's why I am "pumping" Lee. :)

I think if FA X10 was released to market before Six Pack Pro, things may have gone differently and I could have bought it; but due to low cost of SPP, I likely would have purchased SPP anyways to test faster caliber conversion and small/larger primer swap (I wonder how easy it is to do caliber conversion on the X10?).
