We didn't have too many random killings after CCW passed here. Most everybody was already dead from when they got rid of the 55 MPH speed limit.

Yeah, I heard that when they banned the .50 in California that dead people actually returned to life.

I know (my wallet) felt safer after the Fiddy ban. But my anger usually trumps that warm fuzzy blocking the wanted hole in my pocket.

JPP, you do realize there is not KS statute preventing from open carry in a vehicle, right?

The only real issue with KS is the lack of statewide preemption. Localities can still enact ordinances prohibiting open carry of a firearm. Wichita and Topeka are the only ones known to me. Derby (town just south of Wichita) used to until Oct 2005 when they adopted the new Uniform Public Offense Code for Kansas (as published be the Kansas League of Municipalities), and did not re-establish the amendment.

Translation: Open carry is legal in KS, except for where localities prohibit it. Good luck figuring out where you can open carry and where you can't, though.

What part of Kansas are you in JPP? I grew up in Johnson County, it was fine back then but now it seems to be the liberal stronghold of the state!

Meet-n-greet

Hey guys Im in Harvey county also. I got my CCL January 3rd.
Had to find a new gas station stop this morning, the gas station
I have been going to every morning for 10 years just put up the
gunbuster sign. :what:
I think the rallying point would be good Idea. Might meet some new
people. If your in Harvey county I probably allready know you but
a shoot down at the Bullet stop might be fun.:)

Yeah, I wish I could get a CCH. No thanks to the AG's office, I can't CCH in KS. Weird predicament I'll relate to some other time.

expect the blood to be running in their streets now, just like it did in Tex....oh. Wait a minute, that didn't happen here.......Never mind.
The blood DID flow (especially in a Luby's in Killeen, Tx) until we finally got the CCW. To my understanding Politician who had a loved one killed in Luby's by the crzed gunman was instrumental in getting the Tx CCW passed.

Well, yes and no. She was just an average citizen at the time. She ran for the state legislature *because* her parents were both killed - while she watched - while her pistol was locked away in her truck.

I dropped by another gas station/c-store yesterday... and they were not posted. I thanked the asst. manager for not posting and that they had all my business now and she looked as shocked as the one that I told was losing my business!
It's funny being the 1st one to tell someone that......
They just don't know how to respond!

JPP

Are you the same JPP on the Kansas concealed carry web site?
The manager at the conoco on 12th says "I dont want anyone with
guns in the store". I corrected her, I said you dont want anyone
that obeys the law to have a gun in the store. I think it is her
dicision and not the owners. We will have to see if less dollars makes
him ask why. (-300+ from me per month).:banghead:
I work in Hesston so I stop at Kabredloes truck stop now. I told the guy
working the counter why I was coming in evey morning now and he said
he hates the gunbuster signs.:D

I would suggest buying or making some cards like the Ohio folks have.
http://www.ohioccw.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1849&Itemid=67
(as earlier referenced by History Prof.)
Each month send the station an envelope with one of these cards and copies of your gas receipts from other stations enclosed.(make sure any credit card #s are not visible)
If you have any friends or family members that would join in this venture it would help get your point across even better.

I told them that I'd be happy to come back as soon as they take the sign down. The lady manager asked my why I need to carry a gun anyway.... I told here the State of Kansas told me I have the right to do so..... and I can't carry a cop around all day cause they are too heavy. She told me she would hate to lose my business over this but they don't want guns in the station. Her quote was that even a good person with a CC permit could have a bad day and decide to carry a concealed gun into the place and shoot someone.

Print one of these and give it to her to post next to the no guns sign.

"even a good person with a CC permit could have a bad day and decide to carry a concealed gun into the place and shoot someone. "

That rationale is so painfully lame that further discussion on the matter is moot. Anyone who says something that ridiculous is too far gone for any further intelligent discourse...
