How about the experimental DREAD?

After reading the review, I think this one is very unlikely to come to fruition. Some of the claims being made by the designer are a little fantastical (i.e. "Heatless and frictionless" - yeah, right). And the ammo looks suspiciously like a golf ball.

Its kind of a neat idea, but I don't think the technology works as specified.

Also, as for my nomination:

FN SCAR

For civilians? A single-shot .22Lr registered with the government, with a 2000 dollar tax. Like it or not, this is the future for us. That or an airgun.

But, as far as looks, any bullpup'll do you. Most .22Lr autoloading pistols look pretty futuristic as well.

We own 2 of the Calico .22 wood stocked rifles and a KelTec Sub2000. I had a Bushmaster ARM pistol.

Yep, I like freaky looking guns.

High Standard Model 10
I tried like crazy to get one of those in the 70s, with no luck Thought that the integrated light would have been perfect for night patrol. Those that had them were either keeping them, or wanted an arm, and a leg for them.
Still wouldn't mind having one!

My vote is for the Tavor from Israel Military Industries (see post from nwilliams above) as well as the Wildley.

The RFB, absolutely. If only they could have timed the release of it to coincide with Halo 3 next month... *sigh*

WOW:eek: You all have posted some nice looking weapons indeed. Some I've seen before but a lot I have never even heard of. I am now accepting donations to further my gun collect...err...education....:D

hso, I have to say the second Calico with the darker wood has a certain grace to it, a sinuousness. The dark wood makes it look serious and old. The first one's wood is too light...too much like fake wood.

Another Wolverine vote. Rex Applegate called it the most naturally pointing pistol he'd ever held. Olympic Arms makes a polymer copy of them now, but the original feels a lot nicer.

I'll vote for my High Standard model 102 Supermatic Citation Space Gun.
Made in 1958 but it still looks and shoots awesome to me.

DREAD has always looked like a silly system to me. You can either use energy to launch a single projectile, or us energy to spin the big apparatus, then release a single projectile. It just isn't energy efficient. Ammo is big and heavy, but so are batteries and deisel fuel.

Second thing that gets me. Spinning items tend to act awefully weird, almost like a gyroscope.

Read about early airplanes, like around ww1, basically the entire engine was spinning around a solid placment. A pilot could turn one way with ease, but turn the other way and WHAM total loss of control.

I've been looking for awhile for a good Wolverine never can find one at gun shows or dealers. As mentioned earlier the C96 broomhandle if you really wanna get noticed kinda fun to shoot but no good without the stripper clips. I love both of mine.
