I have a G30 and use it as my main carry piece. I like the gun, it is accurate, it is concealable and carries 10+1. But................ I've seen numerous comments where someone extolls the virtues of the much much slimmer G36, which they feel is much easier to carry due to its slimness. I have fired and fondled both guns. The G30 is 1.27" wide and the G36 is .14" slimmer at 1.13" wide. I have fondled and fired both, and I don't find the G36 to be enough slimmer to want to give up my 10+1 for a 6+1 capacity pistol. The G36 is a tad lighter, but all other measurements are the same. Many commenters make it sound like they are comparing a Desert Eagle to a Seecamp. Am I missing something here? Are my hands the wrong size to feel the so-called massive difference of .14" in width?

gbran, where do you carry?

I carry at the 4 o'clock position and .14" is a LOT of difference. I imagine if I carried in front it wouldn't be as big an issue.

For me, any pistol over 1" thick is almost too thick (I got so spoiled by my MK40).

That .14" is about the difference between the Pearce grip and the stock red star grip on my Makarov, and I just can't comfortably carry with the Pearce (which is why I sold it and ordered an ultra-thin African Blackwood grip that should be here any day now).

Usually crossdraw

I agree the G30 is a little thick and I can't imagine IWB with it. There are other more comfortable slimmer pistols. I just don't feel the 1.13" wide G36 is that much different. Makarovs are easy to carry.

Although I carry a G30 comfortably, IWB, I'm of the opinion that the G26 is a little easier to carry. I see no advantage in the G36.

If you're happy w/ the 30, that's the one you should go with! I'm sure Glock put out so many diff't shapes & sizes to better suit the needs & requirements of their customers ;) Me, I went w/ the 36 & I'm glad I did :)
Stay safe ;)

Same here. My G36 replaced my G19 on my hip IWB. It's hot and humid down here so I only wear shorts and tshirts. The G19 wasn't totally uncomfortable, it just prints more b\c the grip is longer. For me, it's more comfortable (physically and mentally) to carry the G36 here in South Florida.

1st: I own a 36. I like it very much and trust my life with it as I carry it often.

I'm not one to ponder these .14 width problems. It just doesn't matter that much IMO . I own several carry weapons and carry them all at one time or another. These include a G23 , CZ PCR, KelTec P40,Sig 239. In the past I've carried Ruger P95,HS2000 and Kimber Pro. All have and do conceal.

I agree with above posters, in that you should carry what YOU feel comfortable with. Don't beat your head against the wall :banghead: because Joe Carry says you need a .14 thinner weapon.
