I see that Mr. Gilchrist has already made a tactical blunder and that is before anything has happened. He has already started off by underestimating his opposition and is smugly secure about how good his people are.

That's why I said "light amplification", not "night vision". I was thinking something like this. Get a good, daylight quality image, suitable for the evening news...

Though IR illuminators don't HAVE to be in the same location as the camera...

Imagine the reaction if an American Citizen is killed by a gang member who illegally crossed the border to do so.

Reaction by whom? The shrub brothers, congress, moral majority (or whatever the American Taliban is calling themselves this week) are all bound up in their shorts insinuating themselves into a family situation that is none of their business - they don't have time to waste on in their eyes, a barstool commando who shouldn't have been where he was doing what he shouldn't have been doing. Their reaction will be "we are a nation of laws not 'vigilantes' and this is a law enforcement issue for the legally constituted authorities to take care of". The shrub in charge has already stated as much in his meeting with Fox.
