Getting the NRA's numbers up

After hearing about how we need to get the NRA's numbers up, I decided I'd start the drive to triple their numbers. I've signed my wife and son up under the $10 associate plan. If we'd all do the same, the NRA's numbers could easily double at least. Use the $10 associate plan for yourself and/or your relatives. Then, using the money saved by going to the associate plan, you can donate the balance to the NRA-ILA. Folks, we are going to need big membership numbers in the near future. Please, pitch in. (and pass the word around to others about this simple plan)

I was thinking about that myself, getting the 10 dollar plan, as I am a poor college student i really cant afford to get the magazine...
i will make up my mind by the end of the week if I should get the 10 or the 35...

I'm an NRA member and next time I renew, I want to go for the Lifetime... My only reserve about signing up my daighter is now I'll get 3 times the ""Now is the time brother to dig in and donate" things in the mail...

I want the lifetime membership as well. For now, I order all my supplies from Brownell's, because they give me a military discount. There is a box during their checkout to donate to the NRA, I throw $5 or $10 on top of it in exchange.

Regarding the $10 vs $35 membership... the only difference is that you get magazines with the more expensive one. BUT, this should only be used to increase membership numbers. If you want to donate money, sending money to membership doesn't help the cause as much as donating it to the NRA-ILA (unless I misunderstand). My understanding is that the NRA-ILA is the lobbying arm. The membership side isn't allowed (?) to lobby.

Please do what you can for the protection of our rights. Find a kind, Life Member when you hear of $300 Life Member membership programs and you just might get it!

I just became a Life Member within the last few months. When I can, I will be willing to sponsor. Pay it forward as they say...

What the NRA needs more than money is people willing to donate their time to first educate fellow gun owners that the term firearms mean all arms and not just what some like and dislike.
Then get the lazy SOB's out to vote.

Then and only then start to solicite and educate and invite out to shoot those who would take away our firearms rights.

Number don't mean a thing if they stay home on election day.

Like many advocacy organizations that are supported by member donations, the NRA can set it up where you automatically donate each month through a credit card or bank account. Just fill out the forms for $5-10 a month, you won't even miss it or be inconvenienced, and you're helping a great cause.

Started to go off on the NRA and just decided against it. I'm a JPFO member, the NRA isn't my choice but I applaud your decisions to join SOMETHING to defend our rights. I just wish like I felt they were always as concerned about the 2A as they are of the power of the NRA.

onebigelf, I believe whether you strongly believe in the NRA or not, it needs to be the number one place you join. Then, additional clubs can be joined to emphasize your interests. I wish all clubs required NRA membership in order to join them. Otherwise, we will just be divided and conquered.

To all you new members (of any pro rights groups), thanks! Same goes to long timers. Lets all try to recruit at least one new member. The election looks like its going to result in a stunning defeat for us. Then, a very liberal congress and a very liberal president can have their way with whatever programs they want. Worst than that, they most likely be assigning several supreme court justices and Heller was decided by a single vote :-(

Joined with the purchase of a new Taurus but decided to keep the membership I like the magazine and 35 is not bad. Then there is the biggest reason I love guns and hunting.

WHY?

Because no other organization FIGHTS to protect our firearm rights to date. Plenty of misguided anti-gun rights groups exist with more backing-money than NRA thus far. If you shoot and are not an NRA member, shame on you!
$35 a year is a token charge to support America's right to own and bear arms. 10% of Americans are hunters, 80% of Americans are non-hunters, 10% of Americans are ANTI-GUN ownership. Why should ANTIs' be able to come up with more money to quell us honest hunters than we hunters can provide? YET, that is what's happening today. cliffy, the mystified

Just joined. I hadn't joined before because I didn't know what the benefits of membership were, aside from the lobbying efforts on my behalf. My uncle, a long time member, answered all my questions along with the NRA website, so since today was pay day, I went for it. I can't wait to see the look on my roommate's face when NRA mail starts filling our mailbox! He's one of those gun owning anti's who believes in "reasonable restrictions" and already thinks I'm a redneck who "clings to my guns."
