I thought this was a no gun state. :fire:
It just doesn't seem to matter though, does it? Criminals don't care about laws, I guess. :cuss: That's why they are called criminals. All those gun laws and we get something like this. :barf:

Girl Killed After Refusing to Kiss Man

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — A 15-year-old girl was fatally shot after refusing a man's demand for a kiss, authorities said. The alleged gunman was captured Wednesday night in Washington, D.C.

Atlantic County Prosecutor Jeffrey Blitz said Alfred R. Bishop, 21, will be charged with murder in the death of Elisa Hernandez, a high school sophomore.

Hernandez had gone to an apartment in her housing complex to visit girlfriends just before midnight Tuesday, Blitz said. Bishop, a friend of the apartment's occupants who stored some of his belongings there, arrived shortly afterward.

After some casual conversation, Bishop tried to get Hernandez to kiss him, but she laughed at him, the prosecutor said. Bishop then pulled out a pistol, put it to her head and demanded a kiss, Blitz said.

According to witnesses, Hernandez refused, and pushed the gun away twice before Bishop allegedly shot her through the left eye and fled, Blitz said. She died at the scene.

An anonymous tipster's call to Atlantic County's major crimes unit led authorities to Bishop, police said. He was arrested without incident at his aunt's home in Washington, said Janet Niedosik, spokeswoman for the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office (search).

"It's crazy, I can't believe it," said the girl's uncle, Miguel Hernandez, 26, who described his niece as a normal teen who was into computers. "She didn't deserve that."

I can.

Patiently waiting for obligatory statement by shooter's aunt regarding what a nice boy he is and how he could not possibly do such a thing.

This is impossible......

There were MANY laws to prevent this type of thing......is there not a 100% handgun BAN in DC?

This guy should die a very painful death...

Love the Chipper Idea;

Used to run and feed one for Bartlett. They're (or at least the old ones were) very loud, too, which makes for more fear. Have some stout fastenings connected to a good belay, on the guy's wrists, too, so you can stop the process from time to time, apply tourniquets, let him hear it wind down, then let him hear it wind up again. I remember the quite revolting safety lectures and safety posters having to do with those things.

As in the ketchup commercial: An-tici-pay-ay-tion!

Sorry. I can be *so* mean.

Edit: At least when writing on the 'net late at night. Am actually quite squeamish about nasty violent stuff IRL. Nonetheless, the guy who did that does, I believe, need to suffer some bad physical pain along with whatever other penalties he gets. In public, too.

I can't argue with much that The Punisher does. I also have to agree that this crime shouldn't have been possible with DC gun laws. If you make a law then people aren't going to break it right?

Why all the interest in torturing the bad guy?
Simple justice would be capital punishment.
Our criminal justice system is broken, but when we buy into emotional reactions we're helping its further decline. Emotional thinking is easily swayed, and means that no outcome is certain; real justice should be boringly predictable (once the facts are known).

Our justice system needs to revert back to how it was in the late 1800's. Public executions would give you a visual picture to put with certain laws! Don't forget the open carry of firearms!

IIRC, this was in the gun-free Socialist Utopia frequently referred to as Peoples Demokratik Republik of NJ.

+1 for the chipper/shredder idea, though.

Why not just drop him in to a cell with Bubba who won't like it when his "kiss" is refused. Sure it's not as fun as the chipper but it's probably the only legal thing that could be done right now.

The news report I saw reported the shooter was a schizophrenic - it'd be interesting to find out what meds he was/wasn't on.

Kill him quickly and send him straight to Hell. The demons of Hades will be able to inflict far more tortuous punishment than any mortal could ever think of.

I think the idea behind the chipper is not to cause him a great deal of pain, but to provide some level of satisfaction for us.

Say what you will about the psychological implications, but the fact remains that a fountain of gore from a chipper is awfully satisfying when it's some dude like him. I don't claim to be able to watch this sort of thing on a daily basis, but I can easily imagine sitting down in a lawn chair with popcorn and beer to watch the demise of someone who had murdered somebody I care about.

Patentnonsense, I agree that the justice system should be boringly predictable. We have a chipper handy for all of the child murderers.

Gun Provenance

Praps we should start demanding that news stories include "shot with an illegally acquired gun" sort of verbiage. Legal gun owners like their guns too much to risk losing them by committing a felony.
