I read that there were some problems with the Glock 19 Gen 3 extractors. That some police department had trouble with them. Is this still a problem? Is the Gen3 G19 a good reliable firearm or should I look into the Gen4 G19?

news to me too. most leo dept's don't issue the 19 as a primary duty gun, or if at all. normally it is a full size model 22, 21 etc.

There is nothing wrong with the 19's extractor. In 1995 the NYPD were experiencing type 3 malfunctions in their 19's and Glock beveled the lock up edge of the barrel hood to alleviate the problem. This is most likely what you read about. All GEN3's are fine and highly recommended. The only other thing I can think of was the change from a 90* extractor to a 15* extractor, but that was a long time ago with early GEN2's.

Here we go! lets go to the range with a thousand rounds. Shoot it all and count em up. Never mind if you find the target, which the partisan gun talkers usually have trouble doing, lets count unfired rounds that fell out when you cleared them. I would even supply the ammo and then post a video of you floundering around on THR.
