I was just gifted a first gen Glock 19C. Love the fact that it has no finger grooves. Not too sure about having compensated barrel/slide on a ccw gun (for flash, loss of velocity, plus potential for debris in comp holes). Are these reasonable concerns or am I just overthinking this?

I was considering replacing the slide/barrel but wanted to hear others $.02 first.

Anyone have any experience with carrying a "C"?

Really dont see the need for comp in a 9mm, maybe in a hunting revolver. Barrels are cheap enough, get one if your worried. Being comfortable with your ccw, is worth the cost;)

All you should really need to "un-comp" it would be an unported barrel. I see no reason to change the slide. Sure, it will still have the holes, but they won't do anything.

Ditto on replacing the barrel with a factory or aftermarket unported barrel.
No real reason to replace the slide unless you consider the ports beyond unsightly.
Glock slides, factory or aftermarket, are overpriced expensive in my opinion.

I also have a G19c. Just get a drop in factory barrel and you are good to go. I looked at the prices of a new slide and decided to pass on that.
