GLOCK G36 - the Test of Time

It is... but it isn't.

Almost half-a-pound lighter loaded, too.

Thin and light for concealed carry was on my mind when I got my G36. I certainly gave up the extra capacity that the G30 would provide. In my case a G30 would have made a great vehicle or home gun. I'm sure others do carry a G30, it just didn't go that way for me.

The 21 and the 30 are great guns, but for some of us, too damn fat. Including the gen 4/SF models (the SF stands for Still Fat). I've never owned a 36 and you are tempting me. I am a sucker for a .45, that's for sure.

In a thin suede IWB, they are a very comfortable carry, even with activity.

And the grip circumference is just a hair over that of the GLOCK G19/23 Compacts.

Either of XD-S .45, Shield 45, or Kahr CW45/CM45 is going to be as slim or slimmer than G36. There really is no point anymore, unless it must be a Glock.

I have a 36. Love it. I live in a state that you can carry 10 rounds only. I got the 36 a few years ago. Its slim easy to carry. I also have a few glocks and reload. Im older and think back at all the times I carried a security six in a shoulder holster and felt well armed. Im not going to get into a big firefight were I need to carry a hundred rounds
or want to be a Rambo. Like I said I have other glocks. Another I enjoy is the 357 sig.

My first Glock was a 36. Fine pistol, but I was never happy with just carrying 6+1. I traded into a 21. Great gun...huge though. I switched to single stack 45s and tried out a 26 and 19 before I figured out that Glocks aren't for me...at least in 9mm flavor.

I would probably look pretty hard at a 36 again today if I found one at a good price. I've have warmed up to the idea of lower capacity pistols simply because I don't like carrying around big guns. However, as has been pointed out, there are several thinner single stack strikers out there. I would probably lean more toward the 30 as I already have an old 21 magazine kicking around for back up.

The point is probably moot as I've gotten out of the .45 game.
