Glock Mags

Sorry, should have been more specific. Gaston was not willing to eliminate the plastic cladding to gain capacity.

alright…. you guys are going to hate me. But, when I think of after market mags. I think of Eagle Clear mags for Ruger 10/22. Yeah I’m from the 90’s
It’s Ram-Line for me… I don’t have anymore of their magazines but I still have a forest camo Ram-Line stock on my old Mini-14.

Stay safe.

I have only been shooting Glocks since 2010, but Glock has become my platform of choice and I’ve owned way more than I ever expected to. First was a G23 but by far I own more 9MM’s than all others.

I agree 100% that Glock OEM mags work…period. I have some that have so many rounds through them that they are very easy to load to capacity without my trusty UpLula. But they keep on functioning flawlessly…

I have a few packages of replacement mag springs I bought several years ago that have been sitting in my parts drawer waiting to be put in but never needed. Maybe one day…

But, I’ve had good luck personally with the few ETS magazines and many Magpul magazines I’ve bought for Glocks. My favorite G26 carry mag is the Magpul 12 round mag. I’ve had great luck with the 15/17/21 round mags too. I have a few 27 rounders that also work great.

I have a lot of Glock OEM mags, but mainly use my ETS and Magpul for range and training. They work fine for me, and even though Glock mags are way more reasonably priced than most other brand OEM mags, why use a $24 mag when a $13 mag works fine?

For the Glock 43X/48 platform, I do the total opposite. I use the Glock OEM 10 round mags for training and carry the Shield S15 magazines. They have been flawless for me in all my G43X’s and my G48. I’ve also had great success with the one Shield +5 extension I bought, but I don’t carry with the extension.

For my basic G43, I use MagGuts springs in OEM mags and get an extra round. They are also flawless for me. I am anxiously awaiting the release of the Shield G43 10 round magazine!!!

Finally, if you have ETS or Magpul mags and they don’t work, don’t throw them away…send them in! They all carry a lifetime warranty and will be replaced free of charge.

Anyway, just my $0.02 you got for free on an internet gun forum…

I’m going to collect those old Banna Clip mags from 1995 Walmart era!

I've been on re-qual firing lines with 20 guys, and several firing groups, all with Glocks. Don't recall any mag related problems.

I figure they work, they're only $20 or so, not the $50-60 like some German brands, cheap enough. Still using original mags, and springs, from 1995 in my 26.

I learned my lesson with most aftermarket mags with my Mini-14.

Not all of what some want to call rubbish, really are, and not even close actually, and at half the price or better, they are a great deal. At those prices, it makes no sense to use and abuse the factory mags in practice, when the others work just as well.

And truthfully, having seen how well the Korean and Magpul mags work, I trust them the same as the factory mags for any kind of use.

Yep and he is 50yrs older than his wife. Perhaps the secret to longevity?

To stay on topic.. OEM mags are so cheap why would you bother with the rubbish?

The main reasons I bother with the rubbish are:

1. They are reliable. May not be the case for everyone, but my experience is the Magpul are 100% for every Magpul magazine I own, which is probably around 75 mags, including Glock and AR platform mags. US military is using PMAGS now. ETS, my total is 4 magazines I bought for my G20 and G21. They are 20 and 18 rounders. They have worked fine.

2. They cost 30-50% less new. I like to have plenty of magazines and own a lot of OEM mags. But just like I shoot cheap range ammo in training, I use less expensive aftermarket magazines that I don’t mind dropping, getting dirts or muddy, etc.

3. They offer capacities OEM mags don’t. I bought the ETS magazines to get more BB’s in my large frame Glocks. I really like the size of the Magpul 21 round mag and it is in my bedside G17. I much prefer mags without extensions (but admit I have a few).

Glock OEM mags have always worked for me in everything.

KCI mags have worked fine for me in Glock pistols but not in my PCC that takes Glock mags (that gun runs fine on Glock OEM mags though).

Magpul mags have worked fine though I haven't tried them in the PCC.

Why not just get a Glock Mag? it’s one of the best part of a Glock

I’m of the same mindset. Sure some are cheaper, but Glock mags aren’t exactly breaking the bank like HK or 2011 mags or something. And if you keep an eye open, deals are common around the internet.

Which is why I have so many Glock mags laying around, I can’t pass up a 25-40% off clearance when I come across one.

170mm STI mags cost me $70 each and the big stick 210mm cost $90! that’s expensive

One of the reasons I went with a EDC X9 over staccato C2. $30-45 is easier to swallow, but I actually got most of my mags on sale for $25.

The other reason is I have some issues with one handed shooting 2011s and the grip safety. Carry gun I didn’t want that potential issue.

Yes ETS replacements are free of charge as long s you don't count having to pay to ship them back. Plus they wanted to blame the G43 mags now working because I was using them in aftermarket frames. Even though they didn't work in any of my OEM G43 frames either. And this was after I had to pay to send them back to just have them look at them and then return them to me saying there was no issues found.

And for those that don't know, there are two different OEM Glock G43 mags, older is marked -01 and newer marked -02. And the -02 marked OEM mags can cause issues in older G43 pistols too. So to have ETS tell me it was my frames and not their magazines was not correct.

I carry my 5.5” STI iwb! and if you train enough , one handed is zero issues

The Mags are the weaknesses point of the STI, once it starts messing up, toss it or sell it. It will never be reliable again … unless you send it out to be tuned

less to do with training, more to do with hand geometry, especially when possibly not having time or space to get a perfect grip.

Better to just get rid of the thing, either with a EDCx9 or sticking with a single stack.

for me, anyway

I also buy WC mag for my 1911’s. WC mags are AMAZING

The only training I done is lots of USPSA matches. I should probably take a defensive pistol 1911 class

I actually have a couple of 10/22 Ramline banana mags from the mid 80s that still work. They're unicorns for sure. I went thru maybe 6-8 mags before I found 2 to be reliable.

I also have a mid 90s Ramline metal 15 round mag for BHP that's actually really good quality. Never has had miss feed. I'd put the quality on par with the mec-gars and wouldn't be surprised if they made it for Ramline.
