Glock or Sig?

What I would like to see Sig do ,would be to offer the SIgpro or P250 in a "longslide "or at least 5inch format.Otherwise,I would say that the one you can get a better deal on is the way to go. Do NOT forget about Glock factory barrels and the need to not shoot exposed lead bullets in them, however. If you want ,or need to;install a conventionally rifled barrel in it to avoid the dreaded "Kabooms".

Wow DawgFvr, I certainly didn't mean to insult you.

I make up for less rounds by being able to hit my target.

I never said that I'm a superior shooter, only that I'm confident in being able to hit my target with the number of rounds that a Sig holds.

Sorry if the content of my posts aren't up to your standards.

I'll do a search of your posts and see if I can learn something so I can be a better contributor to this forum

I'll bow out of this highly informative thread now.

You were insulting someone...cuz ...you followed up your, "I make up for less rounds by being able to hit my target" with:

I've never subscribed to the "spray and pray" method.

Now...both quotes insinuated that others, commenting on this thread, either were so shallow as to subscribe to a "spray and pray" method of shooting or were unable to "hit their targets", thus, needing a higher capacity weapon. We call that "begging the question" in debates. I found it an informative thread myself. Owning neither weapon, I determined that the Glock had:

1. Capacity over the Sig.

2. Less weight than the Sig.

3. Cost less then the Sig.

so...if I were to choose...it would be the Glock as I would be looking for purely a defensive weapon that was in my cost range, made well, light enough to carry IWB and held a goodly amount of 9mm ammo.

I can't believe this thread is still rolling. Glock is Sig's daddy. Sigs were good, but Glocks have taken over. Every 20 minutes a Sig guy converts to Glock. My dad just melted his Sigs to make a Glock case. :neener:

Gonna need an actual metal case when that Rubbermaid gun goes kaboom during transport without it even loaded!

Probably a good idea to close this thread as I see now further productive discussion taking place.

Yes, I'm a Sig fanboy and you have convinced me that Glock is best. Are we done yet?

It seems like we got rid of most of the trouble makers on both sides of the Glock vs the world threads, maybe it's time to let go.

I could say the opposite is true also. I used to only shoot GLOCKs. Then I finally had enough money for a Sig and now I shoot Sigs and GLOCKs. Neither is strictly better than the other. The more I shoot the Sig, the more I feel it handles and points better, but that is a personal preference. Accuracy and reliability between the two are a moot point because both weapons are made for combat and most of the time, can out shoot the user.

Personally, I think comparing most quality handguns is, in the end, an apples vs. oranges debate. Comparing Quality handguns and SNS's, however, is comparing apples to dog turds.

The Glock 19 is the only Glock for me. The Sig line as a whole is better IMHO. That being said, my G19 is my SD gun while my Sigs are in the safe. I prefer the faster trigger reset, more durable finish, and lower bore axis.

This argument is still going on? The Glock 19 is the ultimate SD weapon. I like when I see people say Sigs are better but carry a Glock for SD. Why not carry what you think is better? I'm not getting this.

"CZ's & Sigs are better than Glocks, but I prefer to carry the G19 for SD!" Am I missing something here?

Glock 19 and 26. Best of both worlds. I've had Sigs fail but never a Glock.

If we are talking about 9mm...the availability of inexpensive P225s have placed high quality handguns in a price range ($300) that is perfect for the first time semi-auto pistols buyer. I don't think a used Glock (19) is readily available for that price to all. For the time being, for this reason alone, I'd say SIG all the way.

I have Sigs and Glocks. I'm a big fan of both, However, my Sigs have not held up to rain, sweat, and use as well as my Glocks. My Sigs are prized possessions, my Glocks are both prized possessions and tools.

When I bought my last handgun, I strongly considered a Sig P229 Equinox. This is a BMW-cool pistol, and I loved the unique sight arrangement! But I was shopping for a 9 mm... A 9 mm Sig was offered.

When I asked the gun guru what the Sig would do that the Glock 17 wouldn't, he said, "For you, nothing. You shoot Glocks well. But you'll look cooler shooting the Sig!" No doubt.

I bought the G17, adding Dawson Precision FO Adj Sights, a Hogue Grip, five magazines, and ammo. Some 10,500 trouble-free rounds later, I don't second-guess my decision.

That Sig was gorgeous, though! ;)

I like and own both platforms but I prefer SIGs. Glocks really seem to shine in 9mm and I love my G19.

The one thing I'll add to this conversation is that cost difference between the two really doesn't mean much to me anymore. With commercial .45 ammo going for almost $20/bx and 9mm @ $12 or more out here in California, the price difference will be eaten up in about 6 visits to the range - or less.

Pistol prices are all economical compared to ammo. It's like buying a printer for your computer. No matter what the initial price of the printer, it's the ink that's gonna' cost ya'.

Well for me I prefer the Sig. I have shot rifles, shotguns, and bows my whole life and have owned anything from K-mart brand to Browning but until recently have not owned a pistol. I went to a local shop and started renting different brands of 9mm and 45's to see what I liked and it turned out to be a Sig P226 (and I did give each gun a chance and shot about 100 rounds through each to make sure I bought the one that was right for me). It felt better in my hands then anything else and I was more accurate with it right away. I probably liked the XD9 second and the Glock third, I was less accurate with it then the other 9mm's I tried and it just didn't feel right in my hand. Also I liked the fact the recoil with the Sig was almost non existent compared to the polymer pistols I tried which made my follow up shots more precise.

All in all I think that each person has to find a pistol that fits them and feels right and no one pistol is the greatest thing!

Owning neither weapon

Nothing like an informed opinion.

I've had Sigs fail but never a Glock.

I've watched Glocks break and fail, but never my Sigs

33 round mags for the glock 19 are 33dollars online

12-Pack Coca-Cola online $3.33+ CRV

When I asked the gun guru what the Sig would do that the Glock 17 wouldn't, he said, "For you, nothing. You shoot Glocks well. But you'll look cooler shooting the Sig!" No doubt.

Another expert heard from.

Just out and shoot them both. You are the best judge of this, not us.

MarcusWendt, impressing himself, quipped, in part...

1) "Another expert heard from."

2) "Just out and shoot them both. You are the best judge of this, not us."

1) Indeed! John's credentials are impressive, and he was fully versed in the products being considered. He also trained this customer/shooter, and answered honestly, given the facts at hand. Results actually matter to some of us.

2) The OP wanted feedback. While your advice is sound enough, a one-time range experience is hardly a comparative history.

Question: When you watch a movie, do you talk back to the screen? :neener:

You know I dislike having to be obvious about this one but... It's subjective my friend I might shoot far mor accurate with the Sig than you and or vis-a-versa same can be said about the Glock or any other weapon system out there. really it's pretty much all you my friend, you need to just get out to a range and rent them and see for yourself. I could go on and on about my H&K USP 45 and the accuracy and the feel etc.etc.. but I think you get my point.

Anyways good luck finding the one you want and enjoy. I hope that what you find suites you best and that it be the most accurate gerat feeling pistola that you've ever bought.

GO SIG LoL!!!
