Glock or Sig?

Comparing my Glock to my P220, it is NO contest, it holds 16rds of 10MM vs. 9rds of 45 ACP in a comparable sized package. If we wanna do apples to apples, the 45ACP version holds 14rds if I recall. If the Sig was the same price as the Glock, it would be a harder decision, but I think for me, I'd opt for the Glock for the capacity.

I've had a G21 for 15 years. I'll never get rid of it.
I had a P220 for one year and traded it for an AR15.
Sig makes a great gun, but the Glock holds twice the ammo and can take a hell of a beating w/o scratching the finish or rusting. The Sig was a little more accurate, but just not as practical.

Stock for stock, I prefer the SIG platform. But there are quite a few differences between each gun. I'll compare a P226 vs. a G17, both fullsize pistols, both equally accurate and both equally dependable.

P226:
- Cleaner trigger
- Smoother action
- Smoother to shoot
- Ususally better ergonomics
- Friendly grip angle

Glock:
- Short slack and trigger reset
- Easy to modify
- Small quantity of parts, easy operation and maintenance
- Easy to detail strip
- Plentiful parts
- Known for reliability and durability.

Most people don't like the stock trigger, and the grip angle. I was the same. But the Glock trigger can be modified to a nice trigger with a different connector, a few spring swaps and a beveled plunger. The grip angle can be overcome with use. I don't even notice it anymore.

Because of the short slack, I've now come to shoot my G34 and G17 better than my P226. My Glock triggers are now noticeably lighter than my P226 trigger, thus also helping me with accuracy. It's obviously not fair that I'm comparing a modified Glock to a stock P226, but the difference is that I can work on a Glock pistol without needing to send it out to a gunsmith to clean up and lighten a trigger like I would a P226.

I love both the same, each has their own purpose. At the range for just plinking, I've come to appreciate the simplicity of the Glock platform. A few extra dollars put into it, and it goes a long way.

Cant go wrong with either. I however just sold my G19 in lieu of another Sigpro 2022.

I got to hold and dry fire a 239 today, and really liked the fit in my hand, and the trigger pull.
That's good enough reason for me to buy the Sig.
Remember you get what you pay for.

As I see it...

Glock pros- cost, availability, reliability, mag capacity
Glock cons- ugly with so-so ergonomics, trigger, and accuracy
You forgot to add under Glock cons - They go kaboom!

Go with the Sig because lifes too short to own two UGLY guns.

Go with the Sig

I've owned 3 Glocks in my life and all 3 were ugly, uncomfortable, inaccurate pieces of junk. I bought the first one because everybody said they were so great and law enforcement uses them so they must be good. What a crock. I think law enforcement uses them because they don't have the budget for a better gun. The only reason I wound up with two other Glocks is because a couple of drunks I knew owed me money and could not pay so they gave them to me. :cuss: I sold or traded all 3 guns within a year of owning each.

I have never owned a Sig but my father and brother both own one and swear by them. I have shot both of their guns at the range to the tune of a couple of hundred rounds each. They are an excellent, well made, nice looking, comfortable and highly accurate gun in my experience.;)

Use your Glock as down payment on the Sig and pay cash for the rest. Then save up and buy another Sig.

Glocks are good for a weight to hold your bait bucket down while you are fishing. That's about it in my opinion.:barf:

If you really like the Glock you have, by all means buy another one. What you like and are comfortable with is all that matters. If you want a gun that is a fine tuned machine buy the Sig. You will not regret it.

LOL. I try my best not to have it show. I make fun of the Glock kool-aid drinkers too. But I've been catching myself taking a few sips of it myself and defending the platform also.

LOL - Glocks are great guns, but they just don't work for me.

It's just funny how bent out of shape the Glock boys get if anyone says that they don't like them for whatever reason (even good reasons!).

It's no secret that I like Sigs. I've got 14 of them and I'm always looking to add more.
I don't get upset when people say they are overpriced paper weights.

To each his own. I know that I'm right! :neener:

Well, there are some people who own 16 SIGs
I've never seen a guy post a pic with more than 3 Sigs in it since I've been visting forums. I've seen a pic with at least 30 Glocks in it, and I love the guy. He's my hero. :D

I buy a few pistols at the local store in town, while discussing the Glock and other weapons. I asked the owner what he shot. Mentioned he owns all of the various calibers and ones made by Sig:what: Likes the single action Colt the best, Colt 45 pre 1900. :D

I asked him if he thought the OK corral shoot out would have ended different if they had Glocks and Sigs:uhoh: We both agreed on that subject :p

Listen to this guy, and you'll be stuck with overweight guns whose finish will look like crap within a few months.

Get the Glock, and your weapon will look practically the same 10 years from now. Nothing compares to the Glock 19. Get one and become a part of the brotherhood.

The Sig P220 still doesn't make sense to me, and this is after having owned one, I mean hell, it only has 3 rds of capacity on revolvers that can pack up to 3 or 4 times the muzzle energy. (.454 ~1900ft/lbs)

As far as 9mm capacity goes, the race gets a little closer and for that I would have a hard time between the Sig or the Glock. I would probaby consider it academic at that point..pick whichever you can shoot better.

I don't like conventional D/A autos that can't be carried cocked and locked. The trigger reach is almost always too far for me, so I stick with Glocks. I've got a Glock 19 and a Glock 22. I like them both.

I'd rather have a crappy finish Sig over a brand new Glock any day of the week.

Apparently you beat the crap out of your guns and do not maintain them. I've seen Glocks, HKs, Sigs, etc all beaten to ****, no one gun is magically more wear resistant than the other.

The P220 is a self-defense gun. I doubt many people carry .454s for self-defense, on controllability grounds alone, nevermind follow-up shots. The P220 is a reliable D/A auto in .45acp for somebody with BIG hands.

I own Glocks and Sigs. Sigs are more accurate, feel better in the hand, have a better trigger, and seem to be more durable. Glocks are cheaper, lighter, have a higher mag capacity, and cost less. I will take a Sig over a Glock anyday. JMHO.

The way a Sig contours and fits in my hand, I feel the recoil more in the web of my hand than in my Glocks, they are both great guns.

It is up to the buyer to get what he likes and shoots best, just hope he does his homework and buys what he wants and not what others want to sell him:uhoh:

;)
