Good grief, Blackhawk!

If my wife's already grousing at me for spending too much time here at THR, (she was tickled that TFL was going inactive) how do you get away with it?
Would you believe that she caters to my every whim and spoils me rotten?

No? Then would you believe that she wants me to enjoy any and everything I want to do?

No? Well, would you believe she thinks I'm working on a top secret laser powered cheese spreader for the French Air Force?

No? Then what would you believe?

(Psst, 99.... Can you help me out here? 99...? )

Any you are going to become THR's second senior member with your very next post, Schuey!

Maybe they'll start picking on you next.... :D

:D

My face is starting to hurt from too much laughing and smiling since THR opened and the pineapple doesn't help. Is that good? :D

She's got her own on the other wall behind me, it's faster than mine, she's a surfin' terror, and we're both connected via cable.

Peace and harmony.... :D

Whoa! I just stopped by to use the restroom, really. I'll be going now. Uh......just bill me, ok?

Actually the room's so small, our chairs bump now and then, so email would be a bit over the top.... :D

Schuey, why would I worry? The number of posts means nothing.

They're just like spent brass on the ground. Each one was fun. If it wasn't, then it's time to pack it in.

I'm having fun, especially yesterday and today on THR! :D

HE DID IT!!!

As at 1.48 a.m. Central time, Blackhawk has passed C.R. Sam in post count!

Ok, time to pick on Preacherman.

Don't you sleep?

What are you doing checking out the Top 10 posters list at 1:48 AM Central Time?

Sometime since 1:48 Preacherman overtook C.R. as well, dropping C.R. to the ignoble position of third place. The race remains tight, though...

I feel like a sports commentator.

Some of us have to work over Christmas... I got only 4 hours sleep on Christmas Eve, what with late services at the prison and then Midnight Mass. Up at 5.30 to do early services at the prison, drive to a church an hour away to do morning service, then back to the prison to help supervise main-line and do Christmassy stuff with the inmates. Got home mid-afternoon and went to bed, sleeping till about 8 p.m., then climbed online here to check out the progress. Does that answer your question? :D

BTW, I'm amazed at how fast we're growing. We launched a little after 12 noon on Christmas Eve with 94 registered users (the startup staff and 30 or 40 who sneaked in under the wire :D ). As of 9 a.m. this morning, we were at 1,052 users. This means that in 45 hours, we gained 958 users, or an average of one new user every 2 minutes 48 seconds. That's moving some...! :D :D :D

SO glad to see all of you here... even if you do overtake my post count! :D (Can you tell I'm happy?)

Preacherman,
As at 1.48 a.m. Central time, Blackhawk has passed C.R. Sam in post count!
That is ridiculous!

I hereby make the following proposal through you as a moderator, honorary Chaplain, all around good guy, and insomniac:

Whereas The Firing Line (hereinafter "TFL") is an Internet based virtual forum where like minded individuals gather to exchange ideas and fellowship concerning their interest in firearms and the sport of shooting; and

Whereas The High Road (hereinafter "THR") is a new Internet based virtual forum patterned after TFL; and

Whereas TFL is not going to be accepting new posts from its members after 2002; and

Whereas THR was founded and organized as a direct result of TFL's cessation announcement and with the cooperation and involvement of several of TFL's moderators and administrators; and

Whereas THR is the de facto successor to TFL; and

Whereas the number of "posts" made by each member of both THR and TFL is recorded and displayed on every screen where a member's forum name is displayed; and

Whereas a member's number of posts apparently has some intrinsic value to the forum members; and

Whereas several members of TFL have migrated to THR with the same user names and online identities; and

Whereas THR, as a discrete operation, is not actually the successor to TFL; now

BE IT RESOLVED that after TFL ceases accepting new posts from its members that THR will endeavor to add the number of posts a THR member accumulated on TFL to that member's record showing the member's number of posts on THR; and

FURTHER, that this resolution will apply only to TFL members who join THR on or earlier than January 31, 2003.

Sorry, Blackhawk, but AFAIK the forum software doesn't allow us to "adjust" post counts. We'll just have to let new members accumulate from 0! However, if you want to put in your SIG line the number of TFL posts you ended up with, the rest of us can do a quick addition to find out relative standings... :D

Actually, it does. The vBulletin software runs on MySQL. All that's necessary is to write a query template than inputs the THR member's user name or record ID along with the TFL member count to be added. When the query is executed, the TFL number will be added to the THR count in the "Posts" field.

Since the TFL information can be drawn down automatically via HTML into a separate SQL database, the routine can be made to be essentially painless for the minimal human intervention required. It would even be easier if Rich allowed access to the TFL database, but I wouldn't count on that.

It's REALLY elementary for any SQL programmer. :D
