I work as a plant manager of a factory and the owner also carries. he knows I do as well. right now i carrie a north american arms 22 long riffle 5 shot darenger in my pocket. I would like to carrie something stronger then this. but i must also be able to
A, hide it from view
B, be able to work with it on me
c, be able to retreve it if needed with out a lot of fuss.

I welcome all comments

thanks

Rich.

There are many good choices out there for carry pistols.

The most important thing to consider, other than the gun, is to get a good holster and a good belt. These will make all the difference in the world.

i carry a bersa .380. i'm a mechanic and do alot of bending and twisting. the only time i really notice it is when i'm laying under something working on it. if it gets too bad i just take it off. i use a biachi thumb break iwb holster. i think it's a model 6b.

Seecamp LWS-32, which is chambered in .32 ACP. Stainless steel
construction with Lexlan grips, so you won't have too worry about
it too much. Can be used with a front (or rear) pants pocket type
holster, for comfortable all day carry.

+1 :) Best small pocket pistol going.

IN the NAA Mini size and price range you might look at the small Kel-tec autos, P32 or P3AT in .32 and .380 ACP respectively.

The Seecamp and Rohrbaugh are much spendier but are the Cadillacs of pocket pistols.

I'm assuming you want to stay with a pocket carry.

There are many good choices out there for carry pistols
as you can tell
holster makes all the diff. when working

The Kel-Tec P3 is second to none in the power-to-size/weight ratio. However, I consider a .380 minimum at best for serious SD. I personally will only carry my P3 when nothing else is viable. But I have found it is not that difficult to conceal a farily large pistol like my Witness Compact 10mm.
This spring I will pick up a S&W 340PD for light clothing carry. It does not offer as much firepower as my Witness, but is much smaller and weighs 2/3 less.

If you truly are not comfortable concealing a mid-size handgun, here are my some options:

S&W J-frame .38 or .357 (or equivalent)
Kahr (many choices)
Rohrbaugh
Kel-Tec (even the P-11 is pretty small)
Taurus PT111, PT140, PT145
NAA Gaurdian .380

Just remember, the more concealable the gun is the less protection it offers, generally speaking. Mouse guns can be hidden anywhere, but don't have much power, lack cartridge capacity and are difficult to shoot accurately. I prefer something that offers near-full-size capability. With my Witness, I can discharge 11 rounds in under 4 seconds and keep them inside 8" at 20 feet. It is difficult to keep all 7 rounds on the target under rapid fire with my P3 at that distance.

I second (or third) the P3AT. I can carry mine anywhere in a pocket holster and it is totally concealed. I can shoot mine accurately (for such a small gun) and it has been reliable with Golden Sabers and Gold Dots.

The only thing I worry about, is that if I ever have to draw it on some attacker, it looks so small that I might have to shoot him to be taken seriously.

NAA in 22mag is always a good choice, but what the heck are you thinking- I believe in carrying a firearm, but if the troops get wind of this and start carrying:scrutiny: - you opened a can'o'worms.

Thanks

I thank you all for the advice,

I have a bersa 380 and love it for many reasons. seem what I need to do is look at holsters instead of a new firearm.

Thanks
Rich

S&W 638 (shrouded hammer but exposed so you can shoot it SA if you want). Get a good leather pocket holster. That will make all the difference when you need to retrieve it.

My first pocket holster was an uncle mike's. Grabbing the gun out of a jeans pocket and presenting it quickly was an iffy thing. Lots of times during practice the holster came out with the gun.

A good leather pocket holster has a very broad bottom that fills the pocket and thus keeps the holster in the pocket when retrieving the gun. It also reduces printing.

Who's Carrie?

:p

My pocket gun is an HK P2000SK.

The Kahr 9 was pretty nice too. I'd rather pay $200 more and get the HK... 'cause I'm an HK addict.

What are you thinking?? This gun has no built in safeties. The only safe way to carry it is empty. Ya, I know, it has safety notches between the live rounds. That makes me feel a lot safer. If you carry this gun long enough, you will have an accident.:uhoh:

Those notches between chambers serve their purpose very well. I don't know how you would "accidentally" cock and discharge one of these, but I have never worried when carrying either of my mini's fully loaded. Besides, what good does an empty gun do you??? Mini's certainly lack the mass to be used as clubs.

Thanks to all

Last night I went to my local gun dealer were there is a range. My visit had two goals, hoster review and to knock off a few rounds.

I did find a nice pocket holster for my bersa thunder 380 and to the first time i am packing this gun in confadence at work.

It had been while since I fired my hand guns. well 1 hour and 125 rounds later i fond a big smile on my face. I am still pumped up over last nights lead tossing experiance.

I seen a smaller 380 while there and will be adding to my chrismass list :)

I really like the link to the custom carrie just above this posting and I thank the guy for sending me it.

I guess pistols and hosters are to me what Hi heels are to my girl friend, LOL

thanks again for all the wonderul advise
