I hear all this talk about the extractor on the 10-22 being a piece of junk, I've got two, one is well over 40 years old in the standard carbine version with the walnut stock, and the other, just recently purchased an International. I've got no idea how many of rounds I've got thru the older one, however I would guestimate 10.000 or more. The new International has about 1000 rounds thru it and I've yet to have any problem with either rifle having an extraction problem. In fact I've got several buddies that also have the 10-22s and I've never encountered any one with an extraction problem. I guess if you want you can always throw money at an inexistent problem, however I prefer to buy ammo.
