I've been pulled over several times while carrying (yeah, I have the tendency to drive fast), and although its not required in VA, I always inform the officer I'm carrying as I hand him my license and registration accompanied by my carry permit. I've never been disarmed. People with carry permits are the good guys, and most cops know that.
