GP100 44 Special Front Sight Options: Brass Bead

Now that my GP100 is back from Ruger with the front sight dovetail milled lower (less gap) and the cylinder throats a consistent .430 I'm really warming to the gun. All except for the fiber optic front sight. I've changed out the rod to red, and it's better, but I still don't really like the fiber optic.

Anybody tried one of the brass beads from Novak yet? Since Novak makes the sights for the new GP, I'm guessing this would be a straight replacement.

I'm tempted to try it, but thought I'd ask whether anyone else has yet. Are there other options to consider?
 
Gold bead adds a nice touch of class. Easy to see when aiming at a dark target.
 
One can polish the brass. I'd even consider a plain black front sight. I'm thinking about seeing if there is a way to fabricate my own brass bead from an appropriately sized brass bolt or machine screw to use instead do a fiber optic rod. Lots of options.
