I've been shooting a 180 grain lead truncated cone bullet using 3.3 grains of Clays powder with good accuracy. Book says this should be around 800 fps from my 4 inch barreled SW40VE.
I bought some 170 grain LSWC's and loaded a test batch using the same charge of Clays. I got one ragged hole for 5 shots at 15 yards. Accuracy was amazing. Recoil was very mild. Cases almost dropped at my feet. I like this load.
Any guess what velocity this is pushing? I don't have access to a chronograph.
