i'll say it again...

nothing, i repeat, nothing will do more for the life of your engine, and ESPECIALLY if its got a turbo, than an oil change every 3000 miles. nothing...

got it?

:D

Uh, there are a few things...

Mobile One brand Oil Filters. Fram filters are crap and can go into bypass as early as only 500 miles. No good... that means you not filtering the oil.

Bypass Valve...

Digital boost controller...

550 Injectors...

Jegs Fuel Pump...

Green Filter air filter... or K&N...

Dummy Cat Converter for all the other days when your not getting emissions inspections...

Custom exaust from the manifold on back. 2.5 to 3 inches depending on the application...

And THEN changing your oil every 3,000 miles.
:neener:

I'm just glad to see no one asking if it's okay to use oven cleaner to clean a Glock.

dang...

and i been swearing by fram all these years,

uh, would this apply to those filters put on barely ever maintained cars only?

if the oil coming out is just as clean as when it went in how does the filter clog?

is this gun related,,,,

why yes, how ya gonna get to the range if your car craps out?

see, almost anything can be related to guns if you try hard enough...

The test was done on a car that was being used to test all the oil filters... so I would say the oil was pretty clean.

Last night I went out to the garage and popped open a quart of 20W-50 (which is what I am running in my Subaru Legacy) and poured a little onto a dish. I then used that lube my slide rails on my Beretta.
Very smooth... Very smooth indeed.

Wait a sec.

Not fair.

My Beretta was very smooth to start with. :neener:
I wish I still had my last Springfield 1911... it's slide was "Less than Smooth" and would have been a better test platform.

Of course the only downside to useing motor oil to lube is that you still use other products to clean... Unless your of the "Monster Garage" camp and use gas or carb cleaner to clean your guns with already... I know "PB Blaster" does good things.

Oh, PB Blaster... great for unsticking your nuts right? Well, if your working on engines and stuff and not wearing mechanics gloves... your going to get your hands and arms all greasy right? Give your hands a shot of "PBB" and rub that into the grease before you go inside. Then when you hit it with the Lava or Orange hand cleaner... all that grease just washes right off easier than anything.

One automotive lube that really sucks... it's stuff you get at Walmart in the automtive section. White Lightning. I think it's called. It's a white colored spray on grease. It's pretty worthless in my opinion. Slide rails? Don't even think about it. You'll have to use break cleaner to get that crap back off.

as a matter of fact...

ive been using some product thats like brake cleaner but labeled for guns.

then i heard a guy the other day talking about using brake cleaner to get the grit out of the action.

i'm thinking its cheaper than the $8.95 per can (16 oz) stuff i found at the gun shop, and its gotta be the same stuff.

i just want something "cost effective" to blow that junk outta there

man do i hate a gritty trigger,,,

drives the mechanic in me nuts...

:cuss:

:D

Copper solvent #9 (I think) for cleaning.... until I find something else.
Militec-1 for oiling, looking into ordering some fp-10 real soon.

Castrol Syntec (Dino/synthetic blend) and Mobil 1 synthetic filters. Any oil filter under 6 bucks is junk!! Castrol Max Pro Plus or something along those lines should be the cheapest oil filter you ever use. IMHO:D

For me, Firepower FP-10 is all I need.

I tried MPro7, Tetra, Militec, and Breakfree CLP.

Firepower FP-10 just does a great job.

I got mine directly from the manufacturer. They sell to Shooters Choice, but I believe that the mil-spec version is sold through MPC.
