Gun related tv shows, what happened?

Yeah, and he (the character, not Shatner) is pretty darned careless and goofy with it.

I'd move three lanes down if I saw him (the character, not Shatner) at the range. Or maybe leave altogether.

Hardly a favorable portrayal of gun owners.

Other then that I can't remember any contemporary shows that had guns in the hands of everyday people.
Well...if we're considering Leave It To Beaver contemporary, then how can we forget Jed Clampett of The Beverly Hillbillies? :)
And what about shows such as The A-Team, Walker, Texas Ranger, Alias, Andromeda, or one of my favorite current shows "Torchwood". Okay, in theory Torchwood is a government organization....but man they shoot up stuff constantly...in the UK no less! :)
And I can't recall one show about 5 years ago where a team of 4 mercenaries went on weekly adventures inside the USA....ala A-Team.

Modern TV Show w/ Civi Gun Owners

The biggest challenge to anyone trying to make a reality based TV show besides the challenges that has already been pointed out that it would be incredibly boring if it was realistic. Also the biggest challenge is to cut down on costs most big shows are filmed on site either in LA (X-Files filmed in Vancouver till Duchoveny wanted more quality time at home) and that would not be conducive to a CCW'er.

But I had a few thoughts that would perhaps allow it to work.

First a large ensemble cast without having 1 or 2 individuals be the star a la CRASH and tie it together via events like 24 but not necessarily connected via pulp fiction. Something like LOST (large cast) during a _________(fill in the blank: Terrorist Attack, Civil Unrest, School Shooting etc). Make it real time a la jack bauer

The key to this though is that most of hollyweird views us as outcasts in our own country. I think the only production company who could do this unbiased would be the conservative producers behind 24.

Just a thought.
