Gun shop experience I will never forget

And here I was thinking Johnny Cash. What I get for living in Nashville.

Well, the owner did check to see if the chamber was empty. I'm not sure I'd recommend doing it that way though.

Critter, lol.
I do the exact same thing with everything that has a trigger, especially my PC's joystick and drills (once after inserting a battery, I tried to rack the slide of the drill...), when I notice it, I give myself an imaginary cookie. =)

I never thought of that... makes sense to me. Supply and demand with collectors and all. The Makarov site is a great resource for information and entertainment. I will be browsing that one in great detail.

I have never been to this shop before, and will not return. He only sells guns, but really does not have any inventory to speak of other than his personal collection. I guess his speciality is ordering what you want. To his credit, he is retired (from what other job I did not ask) and doing what he likes to do. Hopfully he makes enough to pay the bills.

I was on the road, and whenever possible, I try to check out the local shops just to see what they have. Never know what I can't live without before I see it ya know. There are several shops and FFL holders in my home town that will transfer guns for a reasonable fee if I buy out of state. I will check out the IDPA site too.

Thanks for the tips one and all.

Here is the pistol that the shop owner made his big mistake with.

thanks Darkmind for the pic of your great new handgun. Looks like fun!

Funny story along those lines. I'm into SKS's these days. I picked up an unissued Yugo for $149 the other day. The funny part? I know a collector who collects SKS's, and back in the late '80s, you could not get a Yugo SKS, they were just too scarce in this country. He was trying to get one from every country that made them. The guy stumbled across a Yugo and picked it up for....$1,200! At the time, it was a great find, there were very very few even in the country and that's about what they ran. We all know how that turned out. Win some, lose some, eh?

There are a few Russian Maks I think, that are very scarce and might have easily commanded $600.00 at the time.
Most of the Russians in this country are the ones with the adjustable sights.

and as regards the 9x18

I was at a range in IL last winter, the guy in the next stall was trying out his new HK USP 9mm. I offered to let him try my HK P7 and after a brief familiarisation, he had a ball with it. He asked if I wanted to try his USP. Okay, he loads the mag, hands me the pistol and the mag. I insert the mag, let the slide fly...most of the way into battery. Withdraw slide, remove mag, and find that the idjit shop that sold it to him also sold him several boxes of ammo...some 9x19, some 9x18! Needless to say, we noted that the 9z18 is slightly larger in diameter and will not feed.

hmmmmm...... me thinks a makarov left for thieves to steal would actually be a good thing....provided there was no reference to "x18" or 'makarov' on the gun.

I can give you the name and address of a gunstore that would be more than happy to sell you a stock, used Glock 21 for $500. It even has two ten round PRE-ban-expiration magazines. 10 round mags are an exclusive collector's item now, you know.
