Gun show today in Robstown. It was fairly large, but a lot of tables were accessories and jewelry and such, but that made the wife happy. I made the rounds, found a 2" round butt M10 Smith and Wesson at first, wanted it, kinda, as it was 350 bucks. asked to look at it. It was clean in finish, but pretty sloppy, timing wasn't quite right on 2 cylinders and end play was getting up there. I took my feeler gauges just in case and end play was 5 thousandths. I think 7 is Smith and Wesson's recommended limit. Anyway, I decided it wasn't worth 350 and I have plenty of snubby revolvers for carry. I just like M10s, have one, but it's a 4" square butt and I never carry it. I do carry a 3" Taurus 66 .357 occasionally, though.
Anyway, so I moved on, found a Ruger SR22 for 360 at one table, a Taurus 9mm revolver I liked for about 370 at one table, was tempted by that one, but then came upon a table with a crowd around it. The reason why was the pricing, probably 20 bucks over MSRP on most of their stuff and LOTS of volume. They wanted 319 for the SR22 and they had a blued Mk 2 there for 289. I was tempted by the Mk 2, but have one with a scope on it I gave 275 for scope and all at another gun show several years ago. I like the scope, don't wanna take it off for the original sight.
So I picked up the little SR22. Mark 2s are REALLY accurate, but this little thing is maybe a quarter inch longer than my Kel Tec P11 and a tad slimmer, will fit in a pocket, front pocket, not just a cargo pocket. It will make a handy take along outdoor "kit" gun for this reason replacing an zinc HP22 little POS I have that is really accurate, but is not a strong gun. I've yet to fire the SR22, but hope it can shoot 3" or less from the bench at 25, will make me happy. I'm sure it will at LEAST do that, though. that HP22 does and that's why I've kept it so long, not that I'm going to get rid of it since it ain't worth much.
Anyway, now I have 8 Rugers...Ruger Old Army, 6.5" .357 Blackhawk, 4 5/8" .45 Blackhawk, Mark 2, KP90DC, P85, stainless 10/22, and now the SR22 pistol.
