ChiefPilot-

RV-6A? Sweet!

Aside from guns, I like to:

read (science fiction and history, mostly)

fly, when I have the cash

and someday I'm going to rebuild one of these:

I just do the one thing that I really enjoy. I feel lucky to have found a hobby that I always find so interesting. I have been known to snow ski a few times a year (but I usually have my gun with me). I used to fish like a madman. Does that count?

How the hell do you fish like a madman? Well, at least you don't hunt like a madman. :D

I like shooting pool too. I have a pool table, which is kinda cool. The best part is that I have a shotgun mounted underneath of it a long with flash lights.

One thing I haven't done much is snowboarding. I am ok at it, but it is one of the hobby that really take a lot of preparation time and the actual hobby part is very short. It is also a place where it is hard to carry. I wonder if anyone ever carry a gun to ski resort. I haven't and that's because I have been there since I was 20.

I like to own a Harley sometime, but I don't like the service people and the "we don't need you" attitude I have encountered. I have a Yahama and love it. I probably get a Honda bike next year.

Airplane??? Not for me. Boat??? Love it and can't afford it yet.

Those Harleys are cool, I dig 'em. But how about this: the tractor I posted on page 2 is also a 2 cylinder - 321 CUBIC INCHES - 36 hp at the drawbar, top speed 11 mph. 1950 John Deere AR.

nuther one, different tractor (1966 1020 diesel, three cylinder), different grandson:

A very large part of my time in the summer months is spent turning wrenches on this........

That's a nice pic of the WC.

I work with 128 662, 663 and have some pics of 664--it crashed before I started on the program.

I also did one project on the Devil's Sled--it came off the line directly before the one in your pic which accounts for the name, if you think about it for a bit.

John , we called 61-2666 Satan's Sled.

And I was flying on it when it *almost* made a divot in a mountain on Hokkaido one night in 1989. We pulled up 500 feet to clear that ridge by 300 feet. I feel I've been living on borrowed time ever since. As you already know, it soldiers on with those ugly "cheeks" now. I *think* it still has the bronze plaque aboard for the record it held all those years.

61-2667, as pictured, is a lonely WC-135, all the rest are either at Davis-Monthan or have been converted to OC-135's. I saw 61-2665 at the boneyard last year, it's missing everything forward of the cargo hatch and it's tail. Funny thing is, there's a certain EC-135C Looking Glass in your neck of the woods...

Skunkabilly,
I would love to be able to play bluegrass. I have not been playing very long. A friend of mine is helping me. He is awesome. I can play a few country songs and a couple praise and worship songs but that is about it.

Oh yeah On the subject of guitars.
Any recommendation on an acoustic guitar with cutaway and pickups. I have a Martin already and was looking at a D-16. Trying to stay in that price range. I think the Martin I have been looking at is $1100.

thanks

Nope...sorry. I have a phobia for things with more knobs and switches than strings

Let's see...

Military history
Build 1/48 scale airplane models

Play Darts and pool (reminds me i REALLY need to either move the dart board insdie or clean the junk out of the garage!)

also collect interesting (to me at least) Zippo Lighters, and i don't even smoke :D

does getting (custom) tattoos count as a hobby?? (course this one's on hold till i get more important things, like getting back int eh work force :banghead: , and buying a number of gun items, taken care of)

since so many others have brought it up i'll fess up to wanting a Bike as well, (had Fatboy for about a month when i was 17, long story with a sucky ending)
which brings me to this thought

but I don't like the service people and the "we don't need you" attitude I have encountered.

interestingly, where i am it's the other way round, the local import-bike dealer is a real D--khead and (at least when i've been there) the Harley dealer is a nice place to go, take a look, talk to folks and get legit info. in other words teh Harley place treats folks as if they WANT them there, the other guy has the attitude of "whatever, let me know when you wanna buy one. in the mean time i'm playing on-line poker, so leave me alone!"

NOW if i go up to Houston (i'm a little under an hour away) THEN things begin to change, Honda of Houston (the only import cycle place i have much experience with, since i want to get a honda first.) has a friendly staff, but your service at the next nearest to me Harley place depends on which sales rep etc you get, some don't wanna talk unless you have cash in hand, others will do whatever it takes to insure that when and if you buy an H-D you come back to HIM/HER
