Fabulous Firearms:
1. Walther bolt action/semi auto .22 rifle, model 1, (circa 1935)
2. Marlin, model 39 (older ones)
3. Krag 30-40
4. S&W New Century triple-lock revolver
5. Ithaca (or SKB) side x side 20g.

I really like the Stainless Ruger Blackhawk.
I also like the S&W 624 and the 629 Classic.

bannockburn pretty well summed up the list for me. Of course I do want to make one addition that everyone should try:
a fine quality, high-end English double.

You know reading some of these posts led me to this one

Ruger 10/22, never in my life have I had so much fun as to shoot the ever living snot out of one of these rifles. Seriously. 1 brick is 550 rounds and cheap as heck. So its up to you...1 brick today?...2?.......3 :)?

After that little guy I would suggest:

Winchester 94 - Amazing handeling, very rugged, pure American. Cranking the lever on that rifle will bring a smile to just about anybodys face!

8mm Mauser - Any (SAFE) one you can get your hands on! Just dont sell the rifle short, go ahead reach for 800 meters you will like the results.

Bushmaster XM-15 - This rifle is a M16A2 lookalike, minus the barrel twist and 3 round burst. Its very fun to target shoot, do quick action drills and heck just plink old tin cans. In all fairness I believe its the platform that makes it so much of a joy to shoot, so any AR will do.

Arsenal SLR107 - AK by any other name, the milled reciever lends itself to greater accuracy (please hold your laughter). The rifle is decently accurate up to 300 meters and if barreled in .223 you can step up that range to 400.

Springfield M1A - King of my list; rock solid handeling, wicked accuracy, intimidating firepower AND a 20 round magazine. Whats not to love?

Everyone should try shooting a 38 cal 2" snub nose. We have seen so many of those used on the older TV shows that everyone identifies them as the standard older detective pistol. I own one and have to say that shooting it accurately is almost an art. What we have seen done on TV is sort of ridiculous compared to reality.

If you can get your hands on one, go shoot a real full auto B.A.R. that is absolutely my fave NFA weapon.

I have a few I've fired and was impressed by that I DON'T own yet, mainly because my Colt habit is expensive. And I still don't own an SAA.

But:

HK P-7 is one of those things you just have to try. You'll want to buy one. Trust me.
Sig 226, have to say I don't like DA/SA guns but I LOVED this one, almost enough to buy one when they were still outrageously expensive.

The tastes of gun enthusiasts differ as much as the guns themselves. A lot of people are just naming their favorite guns, which basically will not apply to everyone.

The point of this thread isn't to answer "What is best."
This is a bucket list for the experience.

Remington 513T, there is just someting about a 9 pound .22lr and a mid range scope shooting empty .22mag shells off of a railroad tie at 50 yds. that makes me smile.

claymore: You are right about that 513T! I also have a first year Winchester 52. Both are a sight to see and a hoot to shoot.
