Guns you have never fired?!

I just ran through my inventory today and decided to count up how many guns I had that I'd never gotten around to shooting.

I was apalled to see that I own 9 firearms that I've yet to fire (only 1 on purpose).

I hang my head in shame...

No way. I can seldom make it home w/o stopping at the range when I get a new pipe. They always get shot the following weekend at the very latest.

Ok...I haven't fired the 870 I bought a couple weeks ago. Plan to this week, or at latest, weekend.

I have quite a few and have no plans on ever firing them. There is nothing wrong with having safe queens.

I have a Bennelli M1 with ghost rings thats been in the box since 1996. I got a great deal on it and already had my 870 special purpose so in the box she sits.

Gee, I hope she dosen't have an "island of missfit toys" thing going on in the safe.

I do have guns that I've only test fired once as a function test when new. They are usually collection guns, not 'duty' weapons. My $100 SKS falls into this category.

Don't remember if I've ever fired my HK P7/PSP, I'll have to look at my log.

I do have a 1911 SA GI that I never fired. Sent it NIB directly to a smith as the base for a full house build.

This thread made me think - I have several military surplus rifles (SMLE, my 2nd Swedish Mauser) that I have not shot, as well as a second J frame I got about 2 months ago for carry use.

Then there is the question of all the guns I just don't shoot enough!

I have a Mossberg 500 pistol grip that I bought in 2003, I recently attached a m4 style six position stock to it. I have never shot it

I've fired three out of my twenty six firearms, but it doesn't bother me one bit.

The only one I haven't shot is an SKS I bought.

Got it home, cleaned it up and the darn thing looks like it just came off the assembly line. The metal is beautiful and not a scratch on it. Also it looks like it it never even had a round chambered.

Not bad for $129.


I think I'll keep it like that for a while. I've got my other one to play with anyway.

Everytime I think for sure I will be getting a chance to take her out something comes up. I've had it since fall.

Most of the guns I own have not been fired by me. You can only shoot so many. When I was 25, it was different as I only had a few. Still have most of those and continue to shoot them. Would any of you actually shoot a 2.5" Colt Diamondback in 22RF or a 3" Python? You would have to be crazy or just plain stupid. I have plenty of Diamondbacks to shoot if the whim strikes me.

No reason except I've got a bunch of Maks and Carbines.

See the cosmoline acts as incentive to not shoot it. Who wants their hands to be covered in gunk after a range trip?

I have 9 guns, and I have fired 8. The one I haven't shot is a taurus 66 .357 and I just haven't been to the range in..........6 or 7 months. (at least I can shoot my .22's at my house, and I don't spend much on ammo.)

I did shoot it before it became mine though. I borrowed it and returned it, then a year later it was given to me.

For me, no way. I get a toy, it gets shot asap. Now I have guns I don't shoot often for various reasons, but they all get broken in.
