Marlin model 1892,32 rim or centerfire,excellent,$200.

A buddy of mine has one of those he got as a kid. His older brother bought his first car, a 4-door '57 Chevy from a farmer, and that rifle was in the trunk under a bunch of crap. His brother, a liberal tree-hugging hippie, wanted nothing to do with guns and gave it to Mark. It was a rimfire, we took it to a local smith who made a centerfire pin for it from a piece of tool steel. You're right, the firing pins can be swapped out in seconds.

Colt Anaconda, .45 Colt, 4"bbl. Had my choice of that and a Colt King Cobra in ..357mag. I chose the King Cobra. Little did I know the .45 Colt Anaconda is the rarer of the two and commands a higher price.

The asking price did not reflect much of a difference.

Such is life.

Yep! One that stands out was a used like new Anchutz Exemplar 22lr with the wood "stock" and left hand bolt. Was $399 and I thought that was a little more than I wanted to spend at the time - wish I had just wrote out the check or even threw down the plastic - hec they even had lay away!

Saw a brand new Ruger No. 1 Rifle in 47-70 with incredibly gorgeous wood on both the stock and forend , matched up extremely well - the best I had ever seen on any No.1. I decided to take another stroll around the gun show and when I came back a guy was filling out the paperwork to buy it! Snooze you lose!

A new Winchester Model 71, complete with yellow and red hang tag, going for under $100.00 in an Agana, Guam hardware shop, in 1964. I was stationed there @ Anderson AFB. I have no idea why a .348 cal. rifle was on a south Pacific American territory island store, where the biggest deer there were no bigger than a collie but there indeed it was. It remains without doubt the "gun I most regret passing on."

Converted HK91 to 7.62x39 (I think was done by Bill Fleming) for $1100. What an ugly gun, but what a deal.
