I was just nosing around in this thread and decided to go resurrect my PPP that hasn't been out of the safe or in my hands in 5+ years. Just like I remembered, heavy.
I paid $200 on the first and last time I ever shopped at Dicks. I remember when I got it many years ago I thought it was fun to shoot and I unleashed with it a few times. I wouldn't say to any abusive extent, but definitely on the verge of pushing it. It never skipped a beat.
I thought these were considered total junk. It brightens my spirits a lil to see people dont totally bash them.....
I had a partner pump 20ga. Surprisingly heavy, but well made gun. The plastic bits were cheap though, and I replaced a few parts. Had I spent the extra $80 on an 870 express youth gun rather then the partner pump then I would have gotten better resale and had roughly the same money tied up in the gun. Next time I will buy the better cheapo, the maverick. It’s not exactly a mossberg 500 just like a H&R isn’t exactly an 870.
That is my exact thought. Right now there is only one shotgun in the house and the wife wants her "own." I am thinking she would like the smaller Pardner pump to my Maverick 88.
Don't do her thinking for her.............Find a place that rents, or a friend you can borrow it from. No matter what, it is her decision to make. My wife prefers her Beretta A400 semi; it fits her and she shoots it pretty good.
I agree with George. We can recommend. But let her pick her own firearms out. Before my wife and i got married. She wanted her own pistol. She tried a few of mine. And we rented some. She liked the 1911 in 45 the best. Would have never guess that. She also prefers the M1 Garand over most rifles. I would have thought she would have liked the ar15 or something with lower recoil.

When it comes to handguns, my wife can be all over the place in her likes and wants. Long guns is a different story. She likes my AR setup and my hunting rifles. She really liked my Remington 870, even though I didn't. She isn't fond of my Maverick 88, but that is okay. I am setting that one up with just myself in mind.
I bought my H&R Pardner about 6 years ago. Fired about 100 rounds through it to confirm it went bang every time I pulled the trigger. It has been in the corner of the bedroom since for things that go bump in the dark. For $189.99,I consider it a bargain for this purpose
