Happy Ammo Day

Great Google Moogly, I totally forgot about National Ammo day!

I was planning on picking up 400 rounds of 9mm, but I will probably be trading in my 9mm on Monday for a Colt Defender.

I'll pick up the 9mm anyway. I'll have another 9mm gun at some point. :D

Just ordered up a brick+2 of my current favorite- CCI Velociters. While I was there I picked up a Volquartsen extended bolt release for my Mark 2. (I can't seem to just buy what I came for when I go to Midway's site:rolleyes: ).

$$$$$

Gun People Generate Revenue. That point is being made abundantly clear today. If someone falls out of favor with us...collectively...we can shift 10's of millions of dollars from one retailer to the next.

After the crunchers have a look at today's receipts and "Ammo Day" is explained to them..we'll be viewed as the important economic force we are by some who may not have already realized it.

Great idea, Kim.

As someone observed earlier, this certainly is great for the ammo companies..and I'm happy to contribute to their coffers!

Take Care

I saw a guy at the gun show today buy a pickup truck load of ammo
I do not know how much that you can fit in a truck bed but had to be 50 ammo cans in this truck at least.
Never seen one guy buy so much at one time , he must of taken ammo day very serious.

I bought 1,500 rounds of 9mm from Wal*Mart this afternoon. Sadly, only 14 value-packs fit in your average .30 ammo can.

Picked up my 400 rounds at Wally-World at 4:25 EDT.

I also fired about 200 rounds of .40 today, so I'm really just trying to stay even.:D

Did not know about ammo day and I just happen to buy 2 boxes of 380, 2 boxes of 357 and 3 boxes of 40. Go figure.

picked up 300 9mm and 1100 22s about 530pm CST. this walmart was packed full of ammo...

told the cute girl at the register that they were for a sub machine gun...she asked if that was a handgun...:D

Forgot that it was ammo day, but I did pick up a box of 30-06 while at wallyworld so at least I did something,,,

Well, thanks for reminding me. Just went to Wally Wurld and picked up 200 rounds of .45ACP. I was going to do 400 of 9mm, but with my only 9mm probably being traded in, I figured I'd go for the same financial net effect.

I almost forgot about Ammo Day (hangs head in shame). But not quite! :D

I just ordered 500 rounds of CCI Blazer Brass 9mm from Natchez Shooters Supply.

Are we wimping out??

I do not have the best memory, but I do believe that about a month ago, I was reading several threads here, about Wal Mart and their budding anti gun philosophy, and what we should possibly do about it. Yet so far, I have not read of anyone specifically going to a "Mom & Pop" store to buy their stuff. I have read that most everybody 'HAS', gone to Wally world. Wally world is easy and cheep, and I will have to admit that I forget about the independent folks sometimes also, especially when money is tight. But less we forget, if we don't support the small guy, who are we going to go to when the corporate world goes PC on us and overnight says "no more."

Do we have to turn this into another "Walmart is great!"/"Walmart is evil!" thread? There are plenty of those already.

Didn't say they were anything

Moral to my story was, and is, if we don't support the local mom & pop shop as much as possible, I think we will be in trouble when, as most corporations are doing, letting G & A go by the wayside. Look what KMART did. :)

900 rounds of Yugo 8mm from Aimsurplus.com
200 9mm WWB from wally world
300 .45 WWB
200 12 gauge Federal value pack
1100 .22 LR Federal

I like ammo day! :)

Bought 120 rds of GP-11 from AIM before I realized it was Ammo Day.

Had to go to Wal-Mart and pick up 200 rds of 9mm WWB after that. ;)

Well, I didn't get anything earlier today because it was the sabbath (for those who don't know, in Judaism the sabbath is observed from Friday evening until Saturday night) so I didn't get on the internet or engage in any commerce today.

I'll try to remember to make up for it tomorrow. I'll buy a couple boxes of Gold Dots and/or Hydrashock in .40S&W to see how my Taurus likes it and if it does, I'll buy another box or two for my defensive ammo.

I'm also on a quest for a new gun. My idea has been to buy a decent bolt rifle, an aluminum snub, or a pocket gun, but the last gun shop I stopped in has me considering a used FN HP (they had one for just under $500, I know I could do better but it looked great, and I like most of the people at Continental Arms). I may also/instead go with a surplus Nagant. Anyway, I might just pick up a gun (not sure which one) tomorrow as well- I've been looking around for weeks now.
