For those that don't know about Ammo Day: http://www.ammoday.com/

The gist is this: We all go out today and restock on ammunition. The suggestion is 100 rounds but most folks buy much more.

Why? (Taken from the Ammo Day Website)

To empty the ammunition from the shelves of your local gun store, sporting goods, or hardware store and put that ammunition in the hands of law-abiding citizens... There are an estimated 75 MILLION gun owners in the United States of America. If each gun owner or Second Amendment supporter buys 100 rounds of ammunition, that's 7.5 BILLION rounds in the hands of law-abiding citizens.
People that load their own can buy primers, powder or rimfire ammunition. It’s a great reason to run out and get a surplus rifle too. $200 buys an SKS with 560 round of ammo on stripper clips. Find the right sale and you might come away with a Mosin-Nagant and 780 rounds for $150. The main thing is to go out and ring the cash register of you local ammo retailer, even if all you can afford is a box of .22 and some cheap 12ga.

And tell Kim happy birthday.

David

Going out in a couple of hours to shoot. I am getting a little low on .223.

What would be really cool is if everyone that sold ammo would have a nice sale on Ammo Day.

I'm headed out after work to pick up some shotty slugs and anything else I might think need!!!!

Hate to tell everyone this but my ammo day was yesterday (18th). The Sportsman's Warehouse's tax free sale ended on Friday so I could not wait another day.

1k of AE .223 for me.

i'm a little broke because of medical bills, but i can scrounge up enough for some 9mm that i need! :)

Well I just did my part. I picked up 250rnds of 12g. I intend to break in my new Mossy at the trap range tomorrow. :)

Went To Nearest Walmart

...at 10:15AM Central and got 300 rounds. Would have been 400..but they were out of .357's I wanted by 10AM!

The guy was aware of National Ammo Day and expects the planned 3:30 PM (Central) push will pretty well wipe out the most popular calibers.

There'll be a big Close Of Business spike in ammo sales at Wally World!

Looks like a big success!

Take Care

We didn't buy from Walmart today, but Norton and I picked up a few hundred rounds of .308 from our local Annapolis area store. $56 to the cause!

I did my part, bought some ammo and just for the heck of it bought a new rifle too. :D

Edited to add: I didn't darken WalMart's door to buy any of it, either. I'm one of those odd ducks who tries to support local gun shops.

What a great idea! Of course I am sure there is an underlying profit motivation led by the ammunition industry but who cares! I normally buy all of my ammo on-line but in honor of Ammo day I went out and purchased 100rds of 9mm.

I know this doesn't really count but I bought a very good condition used gun today. A Remington 700 ADL with wooden stock for the grand sum of $214 out the door. How could I refuse :D

Who says that one can't get good deals at Pawn Shops anymore? (Actually I did, but its great knowing that I'm wrong sometimes). In fact I've gotten lucky several times at this one local Pawn Shop.

I plan on purchasing a box or two of ammo tomorrow to make up for it though.

Rob

Although I didn't plan on participating it just sorta happened!

200 rounds 9x19 WallyWorld WWB. At 3:30 exactly.

There were also several other OWMs (Older White Males :neener: ) hanging around the ammo counter and I asked the nearest one if he was there for ammo day. When he said 'no' I gave him the web address the TheHighRoad.org. If he shows up give him a warm welcome please. :)
