Has pop culture ever made you want a gun you never wanted before?

As a kid, I LOVED James Bond films. Still do for the most part--though the older ones are kinda cheesy in comparison to flicks like Quantum and the Bourne series--but I never really wanted a Walther PP until recently due to watching Archer. Now I've added a .32 ACP Walther PPK to my #omgwant list.

I'm sure all of us have bought a gun because of pop culture at some point or another. I fell in love with the Beretta 92 because of Lethal Weapon and now own a Taurus 92. I love the movie Cobra with Sylvester Stallone and that what made me want the 1911. I even have the knife that the villain used in the movie.

I did!

I bought a New Vaquero once just because of the Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns. Love those films. Love the single action revolver because of those films only.

Was not a Glock fan and I really liked the Beretta 92's. Tommy Lee Jones in U.S Marshals saying "Get rid of that nickel plated sissy pistol and get a Glock" helped change that for me. Also shooting one helped!! :)

I like the simplicity and practical concept of the PPs and Makarovs, but for the life of me I can't get over the looks and calibers.

They look nice, but I can't see it inspiring confidence when holding one.

Winchester '73!

Even tho it was filmed in B&W you could still see the Deep, Rich Blueing on that 1 of 1000.

Even though I already had my eye on it, westerns in general made my Marlin 336 all the sweeter. I know it's not exactly what the cowboys used, but that lever-action is retro cool.

Sure. I mean, why not? I can't really point to any kind of specific point where I was influenced, except maybe wanting a revolver.

I mean, when I was 6 years old watching TV, when I saw a revolver, I could figure out how it worked. An autoloader might as well have been running on voodoo to me.

i dont know about my self but my father recently mentioned he wanted a PPK because of James Bond books

Crossbow

It's not a gun, but after watching The Walking Dead I want a Crossbow. I don't need a Crossbow, but Daryl Dixon makes me think I'd be a better man with a Crossbow.

If I were to own a .380 it would have to be a PPK (though I understand Bond's favorite chambering was .32, I would not choose anything that wimpy.).

Bought a Model 29, partially inspired by Dirty Harry. Relative stole and destroyed it while I was overseas, never bought another movie inspired gun.

I believe that was U.S. Marshals not the Fugitive.

Okay, I'll fess up. I picked up an AR-7 because Bond used one. If I remember, he shoots down a helicopter with it. Or am I confusing movies. I'll just have to watch them all over again to fine out.;)

I still want a Wildey thanks to Death Wish 3, even though it would be a 100% novelty piece.
