Have you ever done something this stupid?!?

Hell, I've done stuff a lot more stupid then that!! Just wasn't with a firearm.

Since the Post Office was mentioned...I believe the Post Office recently determined that the firearms prohibition extended to their parking lots. Anyone heard or read of this?

So I guess I'm going to have to make the PO a seperate errand then, drop my gun off at home, go to the PO, then go home so I can put my carry weapon back in its rightful place. Or, I could just comfort myself with the fact that I live in a small town, where the Postal Employee knows everyone by name and reputation, and wouldn't report me in a hundred years.

No harm, no foul, IMO

...

Let the record stand: Again, an honest citizen carried his gun, (ccw IWB/P), in good-will only, into a Bank and into a US Post Office with no harm, no fear put into, or directed at, anyone at either place, and his admission of "forgetting" is just a foot note (of a character) from a page of a fictional book he is working on.. that he forgot he was writing..

That's why the book is taking so long to complete.. ;)

After I first got my ccp, my wife and I went to our local bank to take care of business. We went in with my 45 under my coat, conducted our business and left. Once we were outside my wife asked me if I had seen the "no firearms allowed on premises" sign on the door. I told her no, I had not seen any sign. She took me back to the bank and sure enough, there was the sign. It was posted at the very bottom of the door. Who in the heck looks at the bottom of a door when they are entering through it?

I carry in the bank. There are no forbidden places in PA except federal locations. Why dont you park off post office property and walk in with the gun left in the car.

I dont know if Va. law prohibits carrying in banks or if its just bank policy. I dont see anyone at the door frisking people entering the bank, but I do leave my weapon in my vehicle when going inside. Of course, like Defense Minister says, I would prefer to carry my weapon. Bank = Money..... Money = Bank, could be trouble .

Ill share somthing silly I did today. Nothing serious. Today I took my ar-15 out for the first time. I went with a few friends. I let my friend have a go. So I was watching him closely making sure he didnt do anything crazy because hes a new shooter. So I walk around behind him to his right. Of course I get the brass shower. 1st empty casing hit me right in the chest. So I get the crazy idea "hey im gonna try to catch the next one". So he shoots and sure enough I catch it. I got a nice round burn in the center of my hand. I dont know what I was thinking.

I had nearly the same experience last weekend. My brother was shooting his new WASR-10 kind of leaning on a rather large tree. I was "smart" and stood behind and to the left, but as the casings bounced off of the tree I caught a few hot ones down the collar. I moved in a hurry.

Most of the time, in my life, this could be avoided. (ignoring the fact that I live in Illinois, where if you carry concealed beyond your property line, you'll go to jail)

I bank online and via ATM's and drive-thrus exclusively. I haven't seen the inside of a bank in over three years, and that was for a mortgage closing.

The post office is also a pretty rare occurrence. I've only once used them to send a package. I usually use UPS for packages & buy postage elsewhere. Postage can also be ordered, paid for, and delivered right to your mailbox.

I want to know who put that braille on the drive up teller:confused:

and that stupid sign too that reads "NO PARKING EXCEPT FOR DRIVE THROUGH" :banghead:

Don't feel bad

I was working for an electrical company we were do some wiring in the County Court House, I had worked in there for a couple of days before we started running wires over the Court Room, that's were the metal decors were. Well, I walked through it and about the time it went off I remembered, "UGHHHH, I gotta go back to the truck!"

Fortunately, I had on steel towed boots and hand tools in my pockets so no one suspected a pocket pistol. Around these parts they would likely have understood regardless.

Come to Texas...

...I've yet to find a bank legally posted...do business in two who have cops in them all the time and a no-account sign on the front...if it's not right, it's just not "seen"...now, if they gave us verbal notice...that counts...what it boils down to in Texas is if we, the carriers, have to do it by the book...so do the businesses!!! Fair enough...

I open carry everywhere, including banks, and occasionally quick trips into the post office (Well, not to the post office since moving back to a city. In a small town, nobody gives a damn.)

I wish we lived in a free country that didn't restrict firearms like some sort of fascist state.

Being caught carrying in a prohibited zone can get your permit revoked. It's a rules infraction, not a crime you can be imprisoned for.

It is scary to wonder what might happen to you next simply because you are becoming forgetful with age.

Last month I tossed on my Winter coat which I had not worn since March and rushed off to work. A loaded magazine fell out of my pocket at my desk. I got a couple paid days off for that (and not the fun kind!).

In Ohio, you are guilty of Criminal Trespassing if you enter an business with a CPZ (criminal protection zone) sign. They don't have to ask you to leave first. However, those signs have to be posted in a conspicuous place (like the door entrance)...not inside the store and around the corner with all the other postings. If I didn't see it, and it wasn't posted in a conspicuous manner...I consider that entrapment.

Ohio has some pretty goofy laws surrounding CCW, but we are working to get them changed. The kicker is not being able to dine in a restaurant that serves alcohol - even if you aren't drinking! There is a bill pending to get that removed from the Ohio Revised Code. Who knows how long that will take.
