have you ever forgot you own a gun?

I forgotten about a gun I've bought in the past to flip. Since I really only owned it to trade it in for more value, I forgot about it until my friend reminded me. However, I know about the ones I own. I guess I'm working on trying to change that. ;)

+1 On using Excel!

Judicator it's not Alzheimer's issues its CRS for those of us over 50--Can't Remember S#@%!!!

Nope. Its "I've learned so much over the course of my live, I'm selectively [or ramdomly, depending on how you want to play it] deleting items to make room to learn more."

I'm 35. I've tried using that line. Success rate is only marginal, especially since most folks with whom I interact are the north side of 60.

guns

hahah, yep, I'm a C & R guy and well, just have too many to keep track of, use the gunsafe software, nice stuff, now I can find/locate where I stashed it, that is if I put it back where I got it.

No but my wife as well as my mother have forgot that my dad and I owned a few. At least they both pretend they believe our BS

Make a gun room and display them all...one does not forget. Also keep an Excell spread sheet updated and backed up.

Possible I guess. But then....how would I know?? I mean, if I've forgotten them.
I might have some guns I don't know about? That great!
Hey, we all might! That means there are probably more guns out there than we think.:D

I "forget" that I own ANY guns on occassion.

Never forgot I own a gun but I did forget to put my G21 in my holster one night before a shift. Went to a gas station with a couple of other officers when I noticed a Snickers bar in my holster instead of a gun. They thought it was funny and I learned my lesson.

I have good memory and not nearly enough guns to test it to its limit yet.

not really forgot one like the original poster did, sorta,,,,,,,,?????????

if i was asked to list them all right now and do it in the next 5 minutes, theres a good chance id leave one out.

theres probably 15 guns in the safe right now, and 7-8 more around the house, 2 in my office (which is seperate from my house) 6 in my reloading shop (which is also seperate from my house, and is also where i am typing this from right now)

so if someone asked me if i had this or that, i would remember whether i had it or not, but if i were to have to list them all unexpectedly, im sure id miss 1 or 2.

Yes. I had a pistol being refinished, and the 'smith always has more work than time. So, I told him it wasn't too high on my priority list so he could get the harder stuff done first.

So, a while later someone is looking at the same pistol I dropped off. I told them I had one, blah blah blah, and then I was like "Wait a minute, I've still got one!"

He had it back to me the next week. Turns out he forgot about it too...

Oddly enough, he has it again to mill a dovetail. I'll try not to forget it again.

My Mossberg 702 plinkster. Had some work done to it and so it ended up going back to Mossberg for the work in question. A year and and 7 months later I get a call to come pick it up.

nope, it has not happened to me. i may not be able to tell you EXACTLY what make and model is in the safe right now, but i can recallall of the calibers i own. and other than 22's, i do not own multiple guns in the same caliber.

Not to the point where I bought a second gun of the same type. Still, when I decide to pull everything out of the gun cabinets and wipe it down, I run into guns I have basically forgotten. They are always inherited pieces that, for one reason or another, I don't shoot.

Not with guns, but recently I thought.... hmmmm,380 ammo seems to be hard to find, maybe I need to buy some more. Even though I don't shoot my 380 anymore. Then it occured to me, I ought to check the ammo safe. Sure enough, there's a couple hundred rounds in there. I have posted it for sale on a local forum so someone else can have some gun chow for their 380.

I am in the process of organizing my house and somehow misplaced my xd9. That was earlier this week.... still not sure where it is.

Gun accesories: Too many oh that will be neats that i've bought and later refound.

Edit: Found it in a drawer.... I wonder if dad helped me out with that one.

"hahah, yep, I'm a C & R guy and well, just have too many to keep track of,"

thats the issue.... this C&R license makes it so easy to buy stuff..... I bought that M44 for $69..... not much money to worry about so I forgot I had spent it.....

I have a cap and ball revolver I had forgotten about up on a closet shelf. I never shot it because noone around had any bullets/powder/primers for it.

Gettin' harder as I get older and my collection keeps growing. I do on occasion find a pistol frame set-aside for a build I'd long since forgotten about.

Good thing I keep my firearms list in software as well as a leather-bound book.

My wife bought new furnature a few months ago and she didn't tell me at the time so when I got home and saw it I had to think ok did I have a pistol tucked away between the seats. Then the EDL started and I found all of my guns including two that I did forget I had that were in the safe. I'm only 23 and my mind is going already. What am I going to do??
