Have you ever had a rifle you don't....

Reloading is an option for reducing the recoil on that rifle - make mild loads that are within your tolerance level. Yeah, you'll probably be driving a .300 WSM at .300 Savage speeds, but the rifle won't care, and neither will the targets.

If you have any kids give it to them. If not sell it and get a good 260 rem or 6.5 creedmoor. Low recoil, long range performance.

I have plenty of things that I will probably never shoot, or shoot once and then never really shoot again. I am a C&R guy though so I just like collecting old military stuff. If it was a newer rifle that I never shot and had no purpose for I would probably sell it and buy something else.

That's a mighty beautiful rifle and the Zeiss scope on it only adds to the package. Still, if you don't expect to have a use for it I'd be looking to sell it and invest the money into something I would use. Yeah, it's a cool gun, but guns that I have a use for and can shoot often always look better to me.

Had that experience, and pursued both options. Read carefully:

Option 1 - I once worked up a small African battery, expecting to go on my dream plains-game safari: Cogswell & Harrison .375 Nitro Express double rifle, .333 Jeffery Mauser (the sweetest rifle I have ever owned, makes me mad just thinking about it), .300 H&H Winchester Model 70. Then, life got in the way and the Safari did not happen. I sold all three rifles for some (albeit rather fine) antique books. AND REGRETTED IT LIKE HELL. :cuss:

Option 2 - A couple years ago, I was again bitten by the Safari bug, and bought a .450/400 Nitro Express Ruger single-shot and an antique 8mm German-made Mauser sporter. I am again losing interest in the safari, but I'll be damned if I sell those rifles. They are part of my collection, and unless I starve (which, knock on wood, will probably never be the case), they will remain with me forever.

Bottom line: I've never regretted not selling something.
