Having "A" gun and the importance of caliber

YEAH, WHAT HE SAID

I like heavy iron; it comforts me.
I likelotsa bullets, just because I been attacked by the Huns before.
I like wearing multiple guns, because I reload faster that way.
I ain't never shot nobody, because they didn't want me to.
I trust my tiny caliber if it gets stuck in one's ear, eye, or up against certain 'soft' targets.
I can't always get away with cannon-carry.

Have I ever mentioned how big my fanny-pack is? :what:

I don't believe in statistics, because I can't count (aaah!) on the opposition seeing it the same way.

The comfort level is a big deal....I am WAY more comfortable drawing and firing a NAA guardian than I am drawing and firing a 1911 45....So in a defensive situation, the smaller gun would suit me...

it is personaly preference...Who cares what gun you have....just HAVE a gun....and have it ON you.

I remember reading a story when i was a kid, on papyrus actually, that was talking about attacks from some kind of dangerous animal, i don't remember what. Someone in the article stated that most of the injuries from attacks by this animal were to people with guns, albeit too small a gun. The theory being that these folks figured since they had a gun that they had nothing to fear from the animal, the animal sensed that lack of fear as a challenge and they got bit.

Your first choice should be to run if possible without placing yourself or others in danger. I know others will take a john wayne/jeff cooper stance and lecture me about ridding the world of scum etc but if i run to the nearest cop or phone i probably have a pretty good chance to do that. Whereas if i misjudge the situation and draw my .32 guardian against a guy jacked up on meth or pcp my chance's are much poorer. I would much rather be called chicken that "The late Mr...."

Of course if offered no other alternative i'll stand my ground and defend myself or my family as necessary.

If the best you can do is a NAA Guardian, then that is the best you can do. What a shame though. My guess is that the Guardian is the best you can not, but not because you could not carry a larger caliber, but because you refuse to make the adjustments necessary to carry a larger gun or the time to practice with a larger gun. Sure enough, there are sacrifices, but they really are quite minimal.

Who cares what gun you have? That all depends. Just having a gun often is NOT enough, especially having a very small caliber gun with a short sight radius that you can't shoot well beyond 5-10 yards.

Of one thing I am certain. If I am a bad guy and I am intent on doing you harm, I am much less bothered by you having a little NAA Guardian than a Glock or 1911. Not only do I know the caliber is not as effective, but that you can't shoot it as well and that if you have a malfunction that you problably have not really learned how to clear the malfunction in the tiny gun efficiently.

doublenaught (a jethro b fan?),
No a guardian is not the best i can do, although it is all that i have on occasions. a G27 is my preferred carry gun but there are times when it is not practical. I was replying on the concept of showing a gun to scare off a would be attacker and the responses that followed.

I don't believe if you are ever on the business end of a handgun that you will stop to evaluate the caliber presented. Although i admit that a tiny gun like a guardian or a p32 might be considered a "toy" by a knuckledragger rather than a deterence.
