I am considering a Father's Day gift for me.

I am thinking a .380 would be good to add to the family. So, what do you think between the following.

Walther PPK/S
Sig P232

Mostly range use and possibly concealed carry someday. Looking at accuracy, trigger quality, comfort to shoot.

Thanks.

Price range?

I would say either a Walther PPK/S or a Beretta Cheetah. I think both pistols look better in stainless steel or nickel.

Handle and fire as many as you can. The only way to tell what you will like is to use them, what feels good may not shoot good for you.
Both of your choices have a good reputation.

.380acp?...

:barf:

Get a sweet little 9mmNATO, .40S&W or best yet; a new .357sig! :D

A new SIG P-239 DAK/SAS or a P-229R DAK or a HK P-2000 lem SK woyld be a much nicer gift! ;)

The Walther is a time-test and time-honored gun. The Sig is a fine weapon as well. Despite their similarities, they don't feel the same in the hand. Whatever direction you go, I'd advise taking both to a range and running upwards of a hundred rounds through each one; then pick the one that you shoot the tightest groups with or that feel the best in your hands (or both). There's nothing wrong with the .380 cartridge, either; you don't need to jump up in caliber to a) have a solid defensive carry weapon or b) have a good time. I went through this same exercise a couple of years ago. Today I carry a Walther PPK/S on a daily basis and wouldn't think of leaving home without it.

With absolutly no hesitation, the Walther PPKS. I've got one, and I LOVE this little gun. Everybody who has shot this gun has fallen in love with it. It's a solid little pistol and a .380 is more than enough to put a BG down. Get some CT lasergrips for it, and you'll have a very nice CCW. I carry mine everyday and I often forget she's there.:D

I had a stainless Walther a few years ago; too many problems (like the magazine falling out at inopportune times), to ever consider it as a viable CCW choice.

I have handled and used the Sig: very well made and a functional piece of machinery. I would consider it over your other choice, but I think that both are a little too large for the caliber.

My own personal choice (and the one that I carry), is the Colt Mustang.

The one that you can trust your life too, the one you shoot the most accuratley and the one that fits your budget.

We can't make the choice for you.

I personally own and love a Sig P232 however I cannot ignore the benefits of the CZ83. Besides the fact that its a CZ, who has a reputation for making outstanding and ergonomic firearms, it has 12+1 capacity and a frame mounted safety. Also they can be had for $400 in nickel all day long.

Sig. Why? Well, I guess I just like Sigs. That and I own a Walther that has given me trouble and a Sig that hasn't. However, it is apples and oranges becuase neither are the model you are looking at.

Still, I vote Sig.

The Sig is nice but I prefer the Beretta M85FS for a .380. See if you can find one to fondle. The are a bit pricey though, but its a classic.

If I was getting a gun of that size, I'd get a 9mm simply because ammo is so much cheaper. Around here .380 is almost double the price of 9mm. Often it is as much as or more than .45 ACP.

bersa. i know someone with three, one for each car. the CC version is even better over the standard. they shoot excellent and handle excellent. the gun shop here sells them for 269 regular, 289 for CC. here's another vote. :)

I would seriously look at the Kahr PM9. I got stupid and sold mine and have regretted it ever since. Made in America, smaller than the sig, walther, bersa,cz while being very reliable and accurate.
