The rifle is a 1970's vintage Ruger M77 7x57 that only likes the 175grain Federal Classic ammo and I am not (yet) a reloader. For me I consider it a 250'ish yard max gun and only comes out of the safe each year for deer and elk since I have other more economical calibers for practice and recreational shooting. The existing scope is a Tasco 3x9 something or other (the model # is worn off) that is the same age as the gun which is now very blurry. I went to confirm my zero this weekend and I could make out the paper but could not see the target on the paper.
The one thing I really like about the current scope is it has a wide field of view.
