I own a Sig Trailside and a Browning Buck Mark. The Sigs are no longer made, but you can still find them new and they are just fantastic.

I enjoy the Browning as well, but the balance and accuracy of the Sig are superior in my opinion.

I don't own a Ruger 22, but I know they seem to be the most popular. The only one I ever shot was a beat up rental at a gun range.

Also, I know there have been reliability issues with some of the Walther P22 and Sig Mosquito guns. Some love them, but others call them jam-o-matics. I guess its just whether or not you get a good one.

No experience at all with the Smith or Beretta you have in your poll. I own other Smiths (M&Ps) and other Beretta (Tomcat, Bobcat) and they are all excellent pistols.

thanks for the opinions everyone, this would be my very first gun that i would own. been using my bfs when we go out to the range and now i think it is time for me to have my own.

As you can tell there are several choices depending on how much you want to spend. I've got a Ruger Mk III and bought it because it seemed like the best bang for the buck, no pun intended. I have a red dot on it and love it. It's never missed a beat and I've put about 1000 rounds of Wolf and Eley through it so far. My eleven year old daughter is learning to shoot with it and she's already giving me a run for my money.

I prefer .22 revolvers, but if I had to choose an auto it would be a Ruger. The Neo looks like it should shoot a laser, and the 22a has always seemed sketchy to me.

I had a Neos. It was accurate, reliable and easy to take apart and put back together again. It also has a huge thick barrel and a tiny poly frame. What this means is that it gets top heavy real quick. The 4" barrel is reputed to be much less accurate than the 6". From all accounts the 6" is the way to go on the Neos. I had the 7.5" and let me tell you it got less fun to shoot by the minute.

Basically get a Neos if you want one but treat it like a motorcycle helmet. Sure it feels fine the moment you put it on but if its not the right one an hour later its like a form of torture. Basically hold one in your hands at the shop for 25-20 minutes and see if you still like it.

I personally like either the CZ Kadet or the Browning Buckmark Challange.

I like the CZ because to me CZ just dose everything right. I like the Buckmark Challenge because it doesn't have that huge bull barrel everyone is putting on their guns now days. Its got a nice svelt pencil barrel with all the weight on your wrist, can hold that thing up all day if you need to and its as accurate as I'll ever be.

I have owned every type of .22 you could imagine but I truly enjoy the Ruger Mark I series. The 6" .22-a would be my 2nd choice.

I have a S&W M22A and a Ruger Mark II, both are good target pistols. It all comes down to which you can shoot well and which one feels better in your hand.
