I'm going to take a hog or two between Saturday and Tuesday. I have a few options and would like opinions on each or which you would choose.
I've got a 20" marlin lever in 44mag., a 3" 629, a 3" 686+, a 6" 686+ and a 6.5" 610. Ammo will be G-A 240 gr. gold dot for 44mag., DT 158 gold dot for 357mag. and DT 180 gold dot for 10mm. I've used gold dots on hog before and they have worked which is why I'm going with them again.
I'm guessing the 3" 686+ won't get many votes since it's the least powerful. I shoot it very well and it's nice to pack though. Another thought was to take the Marlin and a revolver. That way I won't have to pass on a longer shot should it present itself. I've hunted this property before though and a 6" revolver has been enough. My top choices are the 629 and 610.
Thanks for your thoughts. In the end, I'll take what I want but I'm excited and want some input from guys with more experience.
