KelTec P3AT is always "On".
XD-9 X 15 is always "On" or "Near".
Rem. 870 with buckshot is "Right over there", and
Arsenal AK is ready upstairs with 8 X 30 loaded in reserve.
AND, The little dog barks like crazy..........

Like a good Scout, I feel almost prepared. :)

Be Prepared in Either Case

My shotgun(s) are kept in the gun safe. At night, upstairs, the bedside table has a Surefire flashlight and the Kimber 1911. Besides, there's just not enough room on the little table for a Remington .870.

Some have their shotgun in the bedroom propped somewhere within reaching distance, but consider putting it away every day an administrative hassle. I (like many others) believe the .870 (fitted with a Surfire weapon light) to be highly effective any way you put it, but the convenience of a handgun nearby seems to win out most times. And when I leave for work, the handgun moves neatly into the Fobus strong-side holster and off we go.

i would sleep through everything so i would probably get killed real easy, but i keep my mossberg 12 guage with pistol grip next to my bed just incase i wake up in time. :what:

How about spending some money to reinforce your doors so they cannot be kicked in, at least not within 14 seconds? :)

My 357 mag goes on with my jeans in the morning. The rifle is under the bed at night, and always goes downstairs with me in the morning, and leans in a handy corner all day. Doors are always locked, unless someone is outside.

Three dogs in the house, and we all sleep upstairs, so anyone breaking in at night is going to have to get past me at the top of the fairly steep and narrow stairs. I expect the dogs to wake me up in time to take a stand there with the rifle.

Reinforced doors aren't going to be much help unless there are bars on all the windows ...

UPS and Fed-Ex folks don't seem to be bothered by visibly armed residents up here in this part of the country - at least none has ever said anything or acted nervous. :)
