First, I'm glad your friend survived. You should consider seeking his counsel. After all, he did manage to survive the situation even though he lost control of the front door.

In many ways, you are a little lucky to live alone. In your place, with no family to worry about, I'd think, and preferably even practice with a couple of friends playing the bad guys, of ways to evade the situation after you have lost control of your front entry. Practice running away through a window or some other exit. Living alone also has the benefit that you can stash several firearms in tactical places such that you can quickly grab one if the opportunity arises.

Lastly, you should use your friend's experience as an eye opener and think of ways to discourage a home invasion. In theory your statement, “that no amount of guns, dogs, locks, and alarms systems is unbeatable to a skilled and determined criminal” is true. But in practice, it is all these precautions that deter and turn the odds of surviving to your favor.

Your mental attitude goes a long way in surviving an attack. A criminal, however determined and skilled, is not invincible. It’s up to you to help your odds.

First of all, try to make sure you do not lose, like everyone else is saying. It may not be possible, therefore I have the final option here:

While this may be illegal, if you are that worried, I would recommend building a terrorist's vest.

If your laying there, and the whole gang is there laughing at you breaking out the pliers to torture you, you can give them a big 'f*** you' and remove some criminals from society.

I don't think this is for everyone, but if you've got the will and the balls to do this, its fairly simple to build a vest that won't go off even when hit by bullets but will certainly go off when you complete the circuit.

Think of it this way. You are probably a decent gunman, and you've wounded or killed a few of them. You are probably severely injured, perhaps fatally. An gangbanger is holding your gun (or his gun, doesn't really matter) to your head while his mates are pulling out pliers and carving knives.

Are you going to tell him where your collection is and in the way die slowly and painfully, while giving them a firepower upgrade, or, take some of these criminals out, not get tortured, and die with honor and dignity, and make other criminals more wary of attacking homes?


Sometimes extreme measures are necessary. When Japan was raping China, the commie forces had no modern tanks, few aircraft, and not many options to fight them.

Luckily, back then, Japanese tanks were primitive enough a guy carrying a few dozen grenades could stop it if all of them went off at same time and at close enough distance.

Thus the dominant strategy was to wait till a tank was over a narrow trench, then have a guy with about 40 grenades run under and pull all the pins with a string.

Boom, tank disabled.

Go back and read my post about the Dog Men , familiy history says that my great-great grandfather died at the Wa-shi-ta river defending the camp. I get the concept of death with honor.

My question ,though, is are you going to put on your suicide vest everynight when you get home like Mr. Rodgers and his sweater? Will you wear it at your Superbowl party? Sleep in it? Are you really comfortable walking around in a C-4 shirt? I don't even want to think about the damper it will put on your sex-life.

Are you willing to accept the odds that the cops will find it before the bad guys .

There are more then a few people posting in this thread who need to read the thread about Reality in Strategies and Tactics before they post in this forum again.
