How can they all be No. 1?

Anybody here ever heard of a custom stock maker by the name of E. Clafsson or E. Glafsson? Google is letting me down tonight. Definitely aftermarket stocks on the 22-250, but very well done. Front stock is stamped with builder’s name, but it is extremely faint.

I only had one and it is one of a very few I now regret selling - it was the RSI in what seems to be a very scarce .243........with my US-made Burris fixed 6X compact it was a great pronghorm rifle

So, after talking with Lee Newton who is the knower of all things No. 1, the 22-250 which was worked on by Engilbert Olafsson is worth between $3K and $4K. He also has an Olafsson built rifle and did quite a bit of research when he purchased it. Olafsson worked for both Weatherby and Pachmayer before opening up his own shop in California. He did some incredible things with rifle stocks. I gave a grand total of $1100 for that rifle. I wouldn’t part with it for $3K.

Fantastic collection.

I only have one myself, a limited run of .45-70s with a heavier 26" barrel compared to the standard lighter 22" barrel of standard production. Great shooting gun which can handle some really hot loads, the kind that hurt the face and blow apart pig skulls.
Is yours one of the Lyman Edition rifles? I can’t remember if those were 26” or 28”, but they came with an old style Lyman scope.

That 22-250, WOW! But if you ever need to get rid of the 300 h&h, well.... It would have a good home here...just sayin
A buddy of mine actually just talked me out of the 300 H&H, the 222 and the 280 AI. He has some rifles that I really want and didn’t believe he’d ever part with...well, he’s parting with them. I’ve narrowed the No. 1 collection down to nine rifles that I’m keeping. These nine made the cut and I doubt I’ll ever part with any of these. The 300 H&H and the 280 AI are incredibly nice rifles, but honestly belong in a collection like my buddy’s where they’ll get to remain unfired as safe queens. I like to hunt with my No. 1s and those two are just too unique and the 300 H&H too pretty to lug around in the woods. 82EFE887-4B79-4517-9C83-CE961EBFBEA1.jpeg
I’m going to have to take a break for a little while, but the old guy I bought these from has several more that will eventually be for sale and try to build the collection more when he finally lets them go. He’s got a very early No. 1B in 25-06 that he’s trying to sell me now. Hmmmmmm.....

That's a great collection!

It was a Lipsey's exclusive with a 26" heavier weight barrel. From all I've read there were 250 made in this configuration.

Amazing... simply amazing :what:

Sir, you have excellent taste in rifles. Each one of those, even the somewhat neglected .222, is a gem.

Stay safe.

Thank you. I traded the 222 off to a buddy of mine. It is an excellent candidate for a trip to Tyler Gun Works or Turnbull for restoration. The wood is awesome.
