How do you do.........

I have an old M-44 that has a mint bore, and good blueing...and all the numbers match including the magazine floor plate. and it is not a force match. The only thing is the Stock is very rough with a few stock repairs....I was wondering how can I make the stock look better without refinishing it? Is there anything I can rub on it to make it look nicer....etc? I doubt there is but I figure I would ask first.

If the stock is shellac-finished, take some denatured alcohol on a sponge and very carefully wet the shellac. It will soften, and then you can simply smooth out the blemishes and add more shellac- it'll all mix together and look good as new.
