I once posted that I thought Savage made a poor choice in naming its rifle "Axis", a term that has a bad taste for those of my generation. Some posters replied that I was being silly, and several had no idea of the WWII meaning of the word.
Personally, I agree on the use of Victory model, not only because of the historical association, but because it adds to the already massive confusion about the term as applied to the original guns. I also didn't like S&W using the name Chiefs Special for an auto pistol and Ladysmith for a .38 J frame, again because of further confusion for collectors.
