Maybe someone has already posted one of these, but I couldn't find it if they did. I started to set up a poll, but haven't ever tried that trick.

I was reading the thread about how many more guns everyone wanted to purchase and it made me think about how many different calibers I already have. I can remember, not too long ago, I was going to stick with as few calibers as possible to make it simple to keep an ammo stock. I just now jotted down what I can remember of what I have and I came up with a list of 15. I know I forgot something.

Now, to have "the acceptable" amount of ammo for each gun...not even going there. To have "the acceptable" amount of ammo for just each caliber, that's 15,000 rounds of ammo.

Who else has the same problem and how many calibers do you own?

Gosh, I came up with 21 calibers, including .22 lr and 12 gauge. Less than half of those are in my present working collection and I only keep a good stock of ammunition for maybe half of those.

I could only come up with 8 calibers now guns to fit them are a diferent story
but I am really lacking in a stock of ammo. But I'm working on it.

Hmm, let's see, I have firearms in about 10 calibers but that is if I get extremely technical; really I have guns in 8 calibers. You see two of them, maybe three of them, will fire 22 short, .22 Long and .22 Long Rifle. So let's count that as one caliber.

Then I have another 7 firearms in various calibers. Those firearms are in calibers: .22 WMR, .32 Auto, 9MM, 7.62x39, 7.62x54R, .335 Remington, and 12 gauge.

I have ammunition in some other calibers as well, but no guns with which to shoot those calibers. Those calibers are: 7.62x25 Tokarev, .380 Auto, .38 Special, .357 magnum, .40 S&W, .45 ACP, and 16 gauge.

I am cutting back on some of the extraneous calibers, hoping to sell some of that ammo, so I can get money to buy a new pistol. So I have the 7.62x25 Tokarev up for sale; for more info see my blog @ http://ballseyesboomers.blogspot.com/2008/07/let-auctions-begin.html.

Of course the gun I am buying will likely be in a different caliber than one of ther guns I currently own, but at least I will have some ammo for it. I am hoping to pick up a HK 2000 LEM in .40 S&W.

All the best,
Glenn B

Keep It Simple:
1) 9mm Parabellum
2) .45 ACP
3) .22 Long Rifle
4) 12 Gauge

When the zombies attack I only have to worry about keeping three of the most common calibers in the US in stock.

You guys with 20,27,52+ calibers of weapons..... If you get infected and turn into a Zombie, don't get mad when I have to put you down.

EDIT: I forgot about .22 Long Rifle. I am not sure how useful the 22 is against Zombies though.

I keep seeing these threads from time to time. Maybe I should make a list so I can keep up, but for right now can just say too darn many.

Would like more guns in each and I regret giving my dad back his 1911 even though the .45 got expensive to feed.
